FBI's Raid On Jefferson Ruled UnConstitutional
Luckily though, they are only required to give back documents that are privileged, rather than ALL documents. What that means is, the three-judge panel unanimously ruled that the search itself was constitutional but that FBI agents crossed the line when they viewed every record in the office without giving Jefferson the chance to argue that some documents involved legislative business.
Please note, Jefferson and his attorney's aren't denying his guilt, they are simply trying to get as much evidence thrown out as possible to weasel their way out of it. They are playing by the rules, however, with the evidence of marked $90,000 in his freezer from a $100,000 bribe is like saying Mount Everest isn't there. You have to acknowledge the money in the freezer at trial and have a REALLY good explanation for it, otherwise it's jail time. I can't wait.

The court did not rule whether, because portions of the search were illegal, prosecutors should be barred from using any of the records in their case against Jefferson. That will be decided by the federal judge in Virginia who is presiding over the criminal case.
"We're pleased with the court's decision that makes it clear that the search violated the Speech or Debate Clause of the Constitution," Jefferson's attorney, Robert Trout, said after a brief review of the ruling. He said he has not yet discussed the decision with Jefferson.
Fortunately though, they have much more evidence that William Jefferson is a corrupt politician without the FBI's raid on his office. That means that Jefferson is still likely to go to jail over his bribery charges. Please note, Jefferson and his attorney's aren't denying his guilt, they are simply trying to get as much evidence thrown out as possible to weasel their way out of it.
