How The Anti-War Thinks
When asked about his son's military service, Mitt Romney said this:
"The good news is that we have a volunteer Army and that's the way we're going to keep it," Romney told some 200 people gathered in an abbey near the Mississippi River that had been converted into a hotel. "My sons are all adults and they've made decisions about their careers and they've chosen not to serve in the military and active duty and I respect their decision in that regard."
Exactly right. His sons are adults and he has no right to tell them they HAVE to enlist in the military. This is exactly what I'm talking about when I tell you about the idiocy of the anti-war crowd.
They love to tell you about how politicians aren't "sending their children off to war". Well that's not how it works. Children have a mind of their own and if they want to enlist, they'll enlist. It's not up to the parent whether or not they go. There is no draft, it's all volunteer.
So by the anti-war crowd's logic, they should have enlisted for the fight in Afghanistan right? They are for getting Osama and his guys right? So when is Michael Moore and other prominent anti-war idiots going to join up for the fight in Afghanistan?
The point is that they won't do it because everyone is focused on Iraq. They like to bring children into the mix in hopes that they stir up the basic need of parents to protect their children and make the person who supports the war look like an idiot or a hypocrite. However, their logic doesn't stand up once you bring Afghanistan into the mix.
