Liberals And Censorship
Leading Left wing blog DailyKos is now censoring people they don't agree with. I find it VERY curious that the audio in this video "suddenly" cuts out while a soldier is telling the panel that the surge in Iraq is working and that progress is being made. I find it VERY curious as well that the audio "suddenly" comes back once the soldier is done speaking. The part that I'm speaking of starts at around 41:00 minutes.
The soldier wasn't making any political statements, he was merely disagreeing with the panel and showing them they were wrong. Because his point of view differs from others, they censored him.
You'll find literally hundreds of thousands of examples of liberals not getting their voices heard and them screaming about Freedom Of Speech. But when it comes to differing opinions, they're all for censorship. Hell, I've offered many times for people to come on here and give their opinion regardless of if it's in agreement with mine or not. To date, not many have taken me up on my offer.
However, the REAL story is that the leader of Daily Kos has this to say on June 2 2007:
And anyone that thinks otherwise, quite frankly, is legitimately and objectively un-American.
See that? Anyone who thinks that soldiers can't go to political rallies is UN AMERICAN. So which is it liberal boy? Do censor people or not? It's quite plain to see by anyone who views this tape that you DO censor people. Let's stop the hypocritical bullshit here liberals. You censor people when you don't agree with their political statements. You have NO problem screaming about Freedom of Speech when it pertains to YOUR freedoms, but you won't defend that same right for everyone else. You SAY that you defend those freedoms, as exampled above, but it's quite plain to see that when the time comes, you simply don't.Travis

Travis,
I'm the CEO of Ustream, and I can assure you that we would not condone this kind of censorship. In this case, it is simply a remarkable coincidence of timing.
Of course, it is possible that the Daily Kos folks had the ability to pull down Internet access in the convention center right when that occurred; this would have the effect of censoring whomever Ustream was broadcasting at the time, but I don't think this was the case.
We would love to have more conservative broadcasters on Ustream, and encourage you and anyone else you know to sign up and provide commentary and counterweight to the Kossacks.

That would indeed be quite a remarkable coincidence if it were true, but I still am very skeptical of that claim. Unfortunately, I've seen many examples of censorship on DailyKos for me to believe that it was a coincidence. Perhaps it was one this time, but their continued censorship of anyone who doesn't agree with their philosophy has been shown time and time again.
That being said, I would love to contribute to Ustream and I am currently looking into it as we speak.
Just as a side note Chris, I posted this just hours ago, and you found me rather quickly. Is this something you normally do or was it my article that provoked you into you posting your comments?
Thank you for your comments and encouragement!

Travis,
After the YearlyKos convention, I did a Google blogsearch to see what people were writing. I came across your post, and didn't want people to think that Ustream was being partisan or unfair.
The irony is that I've previously written about the connection between being Republican and being a successful entrepreneur in Silicon Valley, which led to minor controversy earlier this year:

Glad to hear that you're looking into using Ustream. We'll look forward to seeing you broadcast!

Oh no, I didn't think that Ustream was in any way responsible for the incident in any way. I simply assumed that you guys were hosting the video just like any other media streaming company and had nothing to do with the content of the video.
I think the problem that DailyKos has is that they seem to think that differing political viewpoints don't deserve the same spotlight as their own. While many members of DailyKos bring up valid points, their rabid anti-American, anti-Bush rhetoric turns people off of the origional point they were trying to make.
I do thank you for your insight and rebuttal to the post here. I am currently speaking with several people on various ways to take advantage of Ustream's service. I noticed that you offer many services that Youtube and others simply can't match. I think you have a winner on your hands.
