Question For Gay People

If most of the candidates for President don't support one of your core issues, why are you hosting one of their debates? Personally, I'm for gay marriage. I simply don't see a problem with two people who love each other can't get the same benefits and services that heterosexual married people get.

That means health insurance, tax benefits, and also, the downfalls of divorce such as alimony, child support, and splitting of assets. I can't really blame gay folks for not liking Republicans on this issue as a lot of prominent Republicans have come out against gay marriage, but support a lesser "civil union". Of course, "civil unions" is just a play on words to keep those who aren't for gay marriage happy.

If "civil unions" have the same benefits and pitfalls of marriage, what's the problem with calling it marriage?

But I'm getting off topic. This would be the same as if you had the Brady Bill folks hosting a Republican Presidential debate. Gun control is a core issue of Republicans and I would find it hard to believe that such an event would happen.
