Iraqi's Wanted Saddam Hanged Badly
We just wanted to make sure it was done correctly. But of course, we're the bad guys because it's all a conspiracy because of the Jews, and the Americans, and the Oil companies, blah, blah, blah. I wonder when people will actually start to think "you know, the American's aren't to blame for the worlds problems. Sometimes we're to blame."

Moderate Voices Within Iran
Well it's good to see that the entire country isn't filled with idiots. These guys seem to get it that their current president isn't good for them and their nuclear program is much more trouble then it's worth. But the better question is does this guy actually believe what he's saying? Or is it more of a political show?

Russia Is Pissed At Sanctions
Well of course they are. We're interrupting their supply of money. The Russian economy is starting to get back on its feet and this is a blow to that. But had Russia been a bit more helpful with the situation with Iran, it may not have come down to this. Perhaps Russia will take a step back and learn from this experience. We're not messing around anymore. There's too much at stake and we won't sit by while bad things are brewing.

Israel Planning Nuclear Attack
Well, I can't say I blame them. With the President of Iran getting all lippy, I'd be nervous myself if I was Israel. I'm willing to bet that the world opinion would be against Israel, but the bottom line is that if no one will help protect you from powers that want to kill you, you cannot be blamed if you defend yourself. There is WAY too much evidence that Iran is planning on creating weapons instead of a peaceful nuclear power plant like they claim.

Once Again, Democrats Are Idiots
So, they want us to become energy independent. Fair enough. They want our cars to use less fuel. Fair enough as well.
But when there's a proven oil field just waiting to be used, they put on the brakes. I know several Alaskans, and they all want the oil fields to tapped into. It will create jobs, bring in more tax money, and help wean us off of foreign energy sources. But Democrats don't see it that way. They see it as a landscape that cannot be touched no matter the consequences. Ok Democrats, where do you suppose we find more oil from? It's not like we can cut ourselves completely off of oil. Machines need lubrication, diesel fuel needs to be created, heating oil, etc. All of those things and more are made from oil fields. So Democrats, where are the new fields that we CAN drill into?

Britain's Not Taking It Anymore
Looks like they've decided to hold those responsible for making threats against people accountable for their words. It's about time. :) Glad to see the Brits haven't gone all soft on us. :) Maybe next time Muslim rioters will think twice before they decide to chant "Death to ....." in their riots. It's one thing to have freedom of speech, it's quite another when you threaten people.

Congressional Black Caucus Supports Corruption
At least that's the idea when they gave William Jefferson a standing ovation. Already under investigation for accepting a $100,000 bribe, of which $90,000 was recovered in his freezer, it makes me wonder how low they will go with someone who's obviously as guilty as he is.
I wonder if he'll play the race card. "It's all about me being black. It's the white man who's kept me down...blah blah blah." Sure buddy, it has nothing to do with the fact you've been video taped accepting $100k and then investigators finding it in your freezer. He's not even denying that he accepted the money. In fact, he's not saying "I didn't accept a bribe", he's just attacking the very idea that his offices can be searched by the FBI. That's a tactic of a guilty man.

We've Moved In - Now You Have To Change
Democrats Looking To Retreat
So, our military is asking for more troops, the Democrats a little while ago were asking for more troops and saying that we went in with too few men, but now that they've been elected and feel the need to appease the people that got them into power, are asking for
no new troops and for us to withdraw between 4-6 months? The fact of the matter is that the Iraqi's cannot stand on their own at this moment in time. If we withdraw, retreat, or do a "
phased redeployment", they will crumble in no time at all.
Plus, it will give insurgents a sense of "If I just wait it out, I win". Then what? Do we just hope that they don't hop on a plane and come here and start wreaking havoc on things? Burying your head in the sand isn't the way to go Democrats. Your supreme leader Bill Clinton proved that.

Iran Threatens Nuclear Retaliation
I thought it was for "peaceful purposes" only? I guess if they feel threatened in any way, they'll "start" to develop nuclear weapons. So, they could feel "threatened" by a kitten and use it as an excuse to have nuclear weapons. Hmm...lying from Iranian leadership? Say it ain't so! I guess Russia and China really can't bury their heads in the sand anymore. But what China and Russia say in the public arena might not be what they do behind closed doors. Let's see if they decide to be responsible and actually hold true to the UN resolution that they voted for.

I'm Innocent - I Swear To God
This is what I mean, Muslims, by allowing guys to hijack your religion and giving it a bad name. Sure, this guy was friends with 3 of the 9/11 hijackers. He admits to training at an Al-Qaeda camp in Afghanistan. He was admittedly a close friend. He paid for their rent and tuition to keep up the appearance of the hijackers being students. But "I swear by God that I did know the attackers were in America," he shouted in accented German. "I swear by God that I did not know what they wanted to do."
Bullshit. Now, he's lying and swearing to God that he didn't know. Yet, where's the Muslim outrage that he's doing that? He knew they were up to no good. He knew they were planning something big. Yet, he didn't call police, he didn't try to talk them out of it. He did nothing. That makes him an accomplice, and therefore, guilty of aiding and abetting the 9/11 plot. Personally, I don't know why someone doesn't wait outside of the jail when he's done with his sentence and shoots him in the back of the head. He aided in the largest terrorist attack in history. You can't tell me that there's not a family member who's effected by this who isn't about to snap and do something drastic to this guy.

New Budget Rules Could Make Democrats Out To Be Liars
This is great. :) So Democrats want to have all these neat new services and benefits for everyone, but they are also putting the finishing touches on budget rules that would reign in the deficit. The problem is that for them to get these new services and benefits, they'll have to raise the money from elsewhere. That means they'll have to cut other areas or raise taxes. Either way, the money to pay for these things needs to come from somewhere. :)

Democrats Take Control Today
Well today is the first day that the Democrats take control of both houses of Congress. Now, watch as the fireworks begin. I am a bit torn on the idea of raising the minimum wage though. Granted, 5 bucks an hour is not enough money to support a family on, but minimum wage really isn't designed for job that a family supporter should have. A family supporter should have gone to college or done something to make sure that they have the necessary skills to have a job that pays enough to support a family. Minimum wage is really for low end, jobs that you and I had when we were teenagers and just starting out in life. Fast food, and other such jobs are what minimum wage is all about.
Republicans have warned that some people will lose their jobs if the minimum wage is raised. This is true, but what is most likely to happen is that the cost of a pizza or hamburger is going to go up. Everyone pays for the minimum wage hike.

New UN Chief Has Own Opinion! News At 10!
So why is this even a story? So the new UN Chief Ban Ki-Moon thinks that member nations of the UN should decide on their own on the issue of the death penalty. Well no kidding, we've done that for years. The reason this is a news story is because of the official policy of the UN of opposing the death penalty. I'm glad this guy was man enough to say "you guys are smart enough to figure it out on your own". Because let's face it folks,

What's even funnier is that there's actually a paragraph in the article that states: "Ban then launched into a series of meetings with U.N. staff and surprised many when he walked into the staff cafeteria for lunch. Palestinian Vs. Israeli Conflict
If there are any Palestinian readers out there, I have a quick question for you all. Say, by some miracle, Israel decides to give you back land seized in the
1967 war. Would that mean that all of a sudden the Israeli-Palestinian conflict would be over? I ask this because I keep hearing from time to time about a peace plan and a roadmap and such. I always hear that the land is the #1 argument that the Palestinians want resolved.
Fair enough, but what then? Say every square centimeter is given back, are we to believe that there won't be another city bus bombing? No more restaurants being attacked by people with machine guns? You'll have to forgive my skepticism here because if Hamas, the PLO and other organizations attacked only Israeli military targets, I'd actually might have a hint of believing you. But since those groups have attacked civilians and other "soft" targets, I have to think that Palestinians as a general rule, just simply hate the Israelis. The recent election of Hamas seems to point in that direction. Now, Palestinians like to point out that Israeli soldiers have killed children and done other horrible crimes. Those soldiers should stand trial if those accusations are true. But on the flip side, Palestinians shouldn't be sending other children into Israel packed with explosives.

We Can't Do Anything Right
Update:
Well it appears that we tried to delay the execution of Saddam. Kinda takes the wind out of the argument for this woman's article.
Apparently, we can't even hang Saddam for the right reasons.
Or at least that's what this idiot seems to think. So we go back to 1982 when Saddam ordered 140+ people murdered, which can be proved and was admitted to, but that's the wrong crime. This woman then states:
"But that still requires Saddam Hussein to be a monstrous villain (which he certainly was)"
So she admits that Saddam was a villain and certainly deserved to be hanged for his crimes, but God forbid that we use a crime that can be proven. She then goes on to state: "
Fair enough, and the trial for the gassing of the Kurds actually got started a couple of months ago. Other trials, for his savage repression of the Kurdish revolt in 1988 and the Shiite revolt in 1991, were already scheduled to happen in the New Year. But none of that came to pass. All the other trials have been cancelled, and they actually hanged Saddam for the judicial murder of 144 villagers in the town of Dujail who were allegedly involved in a plot to kill him in 1982."
Saddam admits to this. Saddam admits to many crimes, but because we try him on one crime, she wants us to believe that almost all crimes committed by Saddam had the US involved in one way or another. Sure, we supported Saddam when he went to war with Iran. Iraq was the lesser of 2 evils at the time. When Saddam went off his rocker we went in and righted a wrong. Do we get credit for that in this woman's eyes? Of course not, she wants to blame the US for anything wrong. She makes wild claims, does she back it up with evidence?
What many of you may not know is that it is quite common to have a defendant accused of a large number of crimes and only be tried for a small amount of the most provable cases first. That way if there is an acquittal, you don't have someone who walks away free from all of the crimes they are accused of committing.
A perfect example is Terry Nichols, the Oklahoma City Bombing accomplice. He was first tried for the deaths of the Federal agents in the building because prosecutors thought they had a rock solid death penalty case. But just in case, they kept the civilian deaths separate in case of acquittal or a life sentence, which is what happened.
When you think that Saddam is a monster and deserves to be hanged, which crime do you start with? How about one where there's evidence and witnesses. So, if you want to have Saddam hanged for the "right" reasons, perhaps you should take a look at what is provable in a court of law vs. what is thought up in your head.

Automatic Declassification Of Documents
I'd be VERY curious about various things that are being declassified as we speak. An open government is crucial to maintaining the publics trust. On the other hand, there are still things that do indeed need to be kept secret. For example, say there was a document that Reagan wrote out that detailed how he planned on bringing down the Soviet Union? That would definitely need to be kept secret. Or how about a document on how we thwarted a bombing that revealed tactics and methods used?
What's even more weird is that everyone likes to think of the Bush administration as this very secret, dark government that won't share a thing with anyone without kicking and screaming. But then in the article it states:
The first deadline was imposed in an executive order that President Bill Clinton signed in 1995, when officials realized that taxpayers were paying billions of dollars to protect a mountain of cold war documents.
The order gave agencies five years to declassify documents or show the need for continued secrecy.
When agencies protested that they could not meet the 2000 deadline, it was extended to 2003. Bush then granted another three-year extension, but put out the word that it was the last one, despite the new emphasis on security after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks and a new war in Iraq.
"The Bush administration could have said, 'This is a Clinton thing,' and abandoned it," Aftergood, said. "To their credit, they did not."
Odd that Bush gets credit for something in the media. It's so very rare when that happens. Usually he has second guessers who love to question tough decisions and say how they'd do things without giving an example.

US Could Snoop On UK Flight Passengers
Well isn't this technically a good thing? If there's a known terrorist on board a plane heading toward the US, wouldn't we want to know about it? What about "connecting the dots" that Democrats like to yell about? If a known terrorist credit card number is used for purchasing a flight, you can bet your ass that we'd want to know about it. The same goes for our giving information to our UK friends. If we didn't do this and then something happened, people would scream about "you didn't do enough to stop them".
