China's Full Of Shit

Yeah, you guys remember how we shot down a satellite with a missile just a bit ago? Yeah, it was all to force the US to talk about abolishing space weapons. Does anyone else need a minute to take a look at the bottom of their shoe for shit they may have stepped in? That has got to be one of the dumbest international excuses I've heard in a long while. China didn't think that there'd be too much of an uproar and they found out that much of the world is condemning them for it. Plus, we still remember the little "blinding the US satellite" incident a bit back too.

Perhaps if that were true (There's better odds of me getting hit by a UFO while riding around on a tricycle wearing an "Impeach Bush" shirt), maybe China could have said "hey, let's talk about space weapons and we'll talk to you about Iran, the economy, or whatever else you want to talk about". I'm calling shenanigans on this one.

Iran's Economy And The Rest Of The World

An interesting read about the internal struggles between various factions within Iran and it's consequences with regards to it's economy. Some investors even directly state that President Ahmadinejad is directly provoking conflict with western powers. This makes them unsettled and unwilling to invest much into the country, making for the economic outlook very shaky. See, it's all about prosperity. If you want some, you have to work well with others.

Hezbollah Vows "Very Big Action"

So Hezbollah wants to bring down the Lebanese government? Their leader claims that it will be nonviolent. What do you suppose the odds of that being? Plus, the international community would be very upset if they did this. That would also call into question Iran's support for Hezbollah. So either they aren't thinking ahead or they are so emboldened by the lack of backbone by anyone in the region, they think they can do whatever they'd like, or it could be a bit of both.

Pay No Attention To The Man Behind The Curtain

Oh come on China! Don't try to bullshit us and tell us that you're not involved in a space arms race when you just test fired a satellite destroying system. If your guys are truly in the dark like they say, (HIGHLY unlikely), then you need to reign in your guys who did these tests. You've done these tests many times before without success, so you can't tell me that you didn't know about them. Plus, where do you get funding for such a project? It certainly isn't coming out of thin air.

Now watch as al-Sadr's thugs try to blend back into the civilian population like the cowards they are. We've been prevented from going after him and his men, but now it looks like we've got free reign to take him down.

"Al-Maliki is said by aides to have told Bush that he wanted the Iraqi army and police to be in the lead, but he would no longer interfere to prevent U.S. attempts to roll up the Mahdi Army.

In a meeting before his session with Bush, Jordan's King Abdullah II was said by al-Maliki confidants to have conveyed the increasing anger of fellow Sunni leaders in the Middle East over the continuing slaughter of Sunni Muslims at the hands of Shiite death squads.

You'll notice our military men and women get much more accomplished when you place no restrictions on their missions. Just watch, this may be a turning point in the Iraq war. I'm so excited, I might pee myself. :)

"No Spank" Law

Well look what we have here. A California Democrat wants to outlaw spanking against children under 3. (big surprise). While I personally believe that children under 3 don't understand why they are being spanked and therefore shouldn't be spanked, it's not my business to tell another parent how to raise their child. It's not the governments business either. I was spanked as a child and I grew up to be a productive member of society.

People are getting to become too hands off with their kids (bad pun I know) and allowing their children to run wild. A healthy swat on the ass let's the kids know who's boss and what's acceptable behavior. You could even run into religious obstacles, "spare the rod and spoil the child".

Parents are responsible for their children up until the age of 18. If the child breaks something, the parents are responsible for paying for it. So if you want to hold a parent responsible, you have to allow them to discipline their child how they see fit.

"Experts in child psychology disagree over whether spanking is a legitimate or effective way for parents to discipline their children. Professor Robert Larzelere, who has studied child discipline for 30 years, said his research shows spanking is fine, as long as it's used sparingly and doesn't escalate to abuse.

``If it's used in a limited way,'' the Oklahoma State University professor said, ``it can be more effective than almost any other type of punishment.'' He added that children 18 months old or younger shouldn't be spanked at all, because they can't understand why it's happening."

I've spanked children that weren't even my own. Nieces, nephews, cousins, have all seen their asses spanked when they were getting out of line when their parents weren't around. Just because mom and dad aren't here, doesn't give you free reign to do things that they don't approve of.

Children who aren't spanked tend to grow up to be whiners, sissies, and just plain brats. How many times have you seen a child in public that's acting wildly and the parent does nothing about it? That child won't learn what acceptable behavior is until they run into an authority figure won't take their bullshit, usually a cop.

I'll bet you this girl was never spanked a day in her life.

Welcome To America

So our culture is so inclusive that it's actually given jihadists a reason to second guess their choice to go to war with us. Well it does make sense. As soon as people move into my neighborhood (we have many Russian immigrants in my neighborhood), I make sure to say hello and be polite and invite them over for a barbecue or movie night. I do this will all my neighbors.

Now if an jihadist moved into the neighborhood, he might think to himself "this guy is being nice to me and inviting me into his home and having me over for dinner. Maybe American's aren't as nasty as the cleric said they were". We're demonized in the media around the world, but when they get here, they are surprised at how generous and supportive we are to them. Welcome to America, land of "you guys are all right after all".

Australian Muslim Cleric Acting Up

So he's admonishing his fellow Muslims for "sacrificing a drop of blood" as martyrs and asking children to join his jihad. Odd, I don't see him sacrificing any blood himself. Reminds me of just about every jihadist leader out there. They like to talk the talk, but you never see them strap a bomb to their chest. They always get the weak minded ones out there to do their dirty work. Coward, why don't you walk the walk? Because he knows damn good and well if he does strap a bomb to himself the weak willed ones won't follow through with his line of thinking.

"
In the video running on YouTube, which could not be dated, he criticizes Muslims in Australia for not sacrificing their blood as martyrs and for putting lifestyle ahead of action in response to massacres of Muslims in Afghanistan, Iraq and Palestine."

Well of course they aren't going to sacrifice themselves. They enjoy everything that Australia has to offer them and their children. There's no way they want to jeopardize that. Australia and every other civilized nation on earth offers a better standard of living that you'll find in the remote regions of Afghanistan and other countries. Most Muslims don't believe in his line of bullshit anyways. They just want to live comfortably and provide a safe and prosperous environment for themselves and their families.

Plus, you have to respect a country where their leader tells an entire group of people "If you want to come to our country and integrate yourself with our culture, welcome. If not, Australia isn't for you. Go somewhere else."

British Imam Speaking Out Against Militant Islamic Jihadists.

Well I'm glad these people are starting to get more and more press and showing that these militants are nothing more then a bunch of nutjobs who are trying to hijack a religion.

"If you have the wrong intention, you can justify your criminal actions from any text -- whether it's the Quran or Bible or Shakespeare," Hasan said.

He said it makes him "furious" when radicals quote the Quran out of context to justify killing of innocents. It's a "very tiny" minority with such beliefs, he said, but "it only takes a handful, of course, to create devastation."

Now the better question is that does this Imam believe what he's saying or is he just saying it for the cameras?

Feds Chief Warns Of Upcoming Aging Population

He's right though. We need to insure that our upcoming retirees are able to collect the benefits that they have been paying for up to this point. Many of them have already made many sacrifices for this country and they deserve what they were promised when they started paying into Social Security. If that means that I have to pay higher taxes, then so be it. I don't want my Grandfather or someone else's grandfather not receiving his benefits because the government can't do simple fucking math.

But as a side note, fiscal responsibility must start now for Social Security. It's not going to be enough to live on for the rest of your life of course, but if someone is promised X amount of dollars a month, that's what they should get. Period. Fiscal responsibility will help enable us to plan for a rainy day when we'll need extra items. I'm investing like crazy into my retirement because I know that whatever Social Security pays, it won't be enough. A life filled with partying, sex, occasional drunken good times, and bad food is bound to catch up to me sooner or later. :)

Taxing "Evil Big Oil"

So now that oil companies are making money hand over fist, Democrats want to tax them heavily. Where were they when oil was at $10 a barrel? Oil companies make major investments in finding new sources of oil and sometimes that big investment goes bust. I'm not defending oil companies per se, but I want to know why Democrats singled out oil companies? Why not software developers? Charities? Lumber Mills? You know why, because their constituents like to point to big oil companies as the "problem" of society's ills.

"The legislation would impose a "conservation fee" on oil and gas taken from deep waters of the Gulf of Mexico, scrap nearly $6 billion worth of oil industry tax breaks enacted by Congress in recent years and seek to recoup royalties lost to the government because of an Interior Department error in leases issued in the late 1990s"

Excuse me? You can't seek to recoup royalties that you lost because you screwed up on a lease agreement. A lease agreement is a binding contract and if you screwed up, you screwed up and you're not owed a single dime. When you do a lease on an apartment, if the owner says "I screwed up on this contract, I'm gonna need an extra $50 a month" you'd laugh in his face. Oil lease agreements take months, if not years to negotiate and you can't tell me that someone didn't go over the lease a million times to make sure the wording was correct.

The government screwed up and now we have less revenue because of it. When the lease expires, THEN go after the additional funds from that point forward. Honor your contract is all I'm saying.

Deja Vu All Over Again

So the Senate finally got around to introducing a non binding resolution stating that they don't support the troop increase in Iraq. Non binding? What the hell are they thinking? What they are doing is politicizing our troops involvement in Iraq and showing that they are out of ideas when it comes to making things better.

The Senate is fast becoming the UN, full of pomp and poise, but lacking any real substance and certainly lacking of teeth. What bothers me is that they are wasting their "first 100 hours" on non binding resolutions when they could be doing real work. If you want a withdrawal of troops, fine. I disagree with that, but that's my opinion. But put together something that actually means something instead of just shouting and making political statements about the lives of our men and women in harms way.

Iran Offered Concessions 4 Years Ago?

If this is true, I'll be the first to be very pissed. Iran has been a supporter of terrorism for a very long time and if they offered an agreement to rid themselves of such an albatross and it was refused, there'd better be a damned good reason, and it better not be "we don't talk to evil".

Sure, I'd be dead set against talks with Al-Qaeda for obvious reasons, and I bet that that's the same reason that Iranian talks were refused. However, we had talks and resolutions with Libya, so why not Iran? Plus, it would allow us to gain valuable intelligence about the Middle Eastern country. :)

Update On Iraq

So the Iraqi Prime Minister says that if we give up guns and equipment, we can basically hang around for a bit, then head home. Well that sounds easy doesn't it? The problem is that the Iraqi security forces are full of corruption and enemy forces. If we give them major firepower, who's to say that it won't be used against us? Now that may be a valid complaint from the PM and the White House has agreed that it is. But I'd feel better if we got rid of the corrupt and enemy forces before we hand over military style weapons.

As a side note, the Iraqi security forces have detained 400 militants loyal to al-Sadr. This would be a major step forward in infiltrating his forces and gaining valuable intelligence against his forces.

They turn away mainland Chinese pregnant women away at the border. It helps keep them from using up hospital resources. We should do the same thing for our borders. If you are over 7 months pregnant, you can't come to the US unless you have health insurance.

Local, American women need the resources available to them at hospitals. When non-citizens come into this country, check to see if they have health insurance. If they do, come on in. The health insurance will pay the medical bills and they can have their baby here in case birth comes early. If they don't, they get back on a plane, train, or turned around in line to go back to their home country.

We're not talking about a minor amount of resources here. Hospitals near the borders are reporting millions of dollars worth of unpaid bills because the parents are non US citizens.

Bend To The President's Will

Attorney General Alberto Gonzales apparently hasn't taken first year law school classes. He seems to think that the president should be able to do what he wants, when he wants and that judges shouldn't have a say in the matter. It's called the "balance of power" Mr. Gonzales. Look it up....that's ok I'll wait.

While I agree that certain activist judges sometimes do put their own thoughts above what's law, it's the balance of power that allows this country to have the type of government we have without one single person getting too powerful. I agree with many of the President's actions in some of his more controversial moves.

If I were in his position, I'd rather piss off the American people then have them attacked and killed. You know damn good and well that if an attack came, people would scream for why he didn't "connect the dots" like they do about September 11th.

But you certainly can't ask a judge presiding over a case to bend to the President's will. That's wrong and Mr. Gonzales knows it.

Well the problem is that the ad hints at the Duke lacrosse rape case, and now, they are finding that the case isn't what it once was though and now the professors will have to eat their own words. Duke university administrators now have the tough task of calming down the falsely accused defendants or pissing off their holier then thou professors who won't apologize even though they made vague references to the rape case.

Hillary Clinton Shows Us What Democrats Are Made Of

So she is against Bush's plan because, in her own words "The Iraqi government is not committed to taking the steps both militarily and politically that would help them to gain control over Baghdad and other places in the country." Her thoughts on how to deal with it: "I support the beginning of a phased redeployment out of Baghdad and eventually out of Iraq completely."

So what that means is that she's willing to allow Iraq to spiral out of control into a civil war along religious lines. She's willing to have the country become a terrorist breeding ground. Don't think that if we leave that people won't think "This is the American's fault. Had they stayed to protect us, like they said they would, this wouldn't have happened. We should go do something about it."

What this boils down to is that Clinton, and Democrats in general, don't have the stomach for war when war gets ugly. They want quick, painless, as least casualties as possible. We'd all like that, but war doesn't usually go that way. They are weak and spineless against any form of adversary that doesn't fall relatively quickly. Rather then offering a compromise or solution that would help the Iraqis as well as help us, she is in favor for a "phased redeployment". That is just a pretty phrase for "let the Iraqi's tear each other apart so we can appease our constituents."

Saudi Arabia Considers Sending Troops To Iraq

Well of course they are. They have just as much at stake as we do. They are an economic and political superpower in the region and if their neighbor goes down the road towards chaos, that would leave a nasty ripple effect across the region. Plus, with Iran poking it's nose into Iraq's business, Saudi Arabia is afraid that Iran's intentions could upset the balance of power in the region.

It's in Saudi Arabia's best interest to help us see things through. I'm surprised they haven't offered troops right now instead of waiting for Bush's plan to go one way or another. Saudi Arabia just wants to make money and become a major player on the world stage just like every other nation does. Iran wants to make sure that Israel doesn't exist anymore and will do whatever it takes to make it happen. So you can bet that Saudi Arabia will make sure that Iran gets the hint that they are playing with fire.

Iran Shoots Down US Spy Drone?

First off, I'm a bit skeptical about this simply because whenever we have one of our aircraft shot down, you see wreckage splashed across the front page of CNN by whomever shot it down. It's being reported by only one news station so far, plus it's coming from an Iranian member of parliament. Iran is in a nasty confrontation right now with us and I would think that they would be quite proud of this accomplishment and would love to shove it down our throats.

Besides, what would it prove even if it were true? All information is passed in real time back to the main base. The only thing Iran would have to get out of shooting it down is cutting off, temporarily, a way of us getting intelligence. You don't think we have just one in the region do you? We'll see if this story gets picked up by the mainstream media or if it's just hot air coming from Iran.

Israeli Military Chief Quits

I don't know if I'd want a person to quit if they had poor performance after a 34 day war. There's got to be other factors in his decision to resign. If he made decisions that were so poor that people needlessly died, then I can see why he'd want to resign.

However, war is an ugly thing and if the person learns from the experience and his enemy, he might be a much more effective leader then someone who comes in fresh off the street. Enemies can and do adapt, making defeating them much more difficult. When someone resigns, I understand their reasoning behind it, but still in the back of my mind I think, "quitter". An effective leader learns from his mistakes and the mistakes of his enemy. Every leader fails, and it's what they do with that failure that turns them from a normal leader into a great leader.

Iranian President - Not Popular?

It looks like many of those in power in Iran aren't too terribly keen on their president. From the article:

"Turning the nuclear issue into a propaganda slogan gives the impression that you, to cover up flaws in the government, are exaggerating its importance. If people get the impression that the government is exaggerating the nuclear case to divert attention from their demands, you will cause this national issue to lose public support," the newspaper wrote.

The newspaper, Hamshari, whose director, Hossein Entezami, is a member of Iran's nuclear negotiating team, was more blunt: "At the very moment when the nuclear issue was about to move away from the UN security council, the fiery speeches of the president have resulted in the adoption of two resolutions [against Iran]."

Well this would be a welcome advancement as they are also talking of impeaching him. But that may be all well and good, but it doesn't resolve the issue of their nuclear program. Allow UN inspectors in at any moments notice, anywhere in the country, allow uranium to be enriched off site in a neutral country, and you'll go a long way towards easing tensions across the board. But alas, I doubt that will happen. They seem more bent on Israel then with normal everyday problems.

Beating A Dead Horse

God, when are the Democrats actually going to do the 5 day work week that they promised in their campaign? Not quite yet.

Congress under Democratic-control still will not be punching the clock for a 9-to-5 schedule.

Hoyer said his plan for most weeks was to hold first votes at 6:30 p.m. on Mondays and work until about 2 p.m. on Fridays.

Former House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Bill Thomas, R-California, who retired at the end of the last session after 28 years in the House, said five-day workweeks could be particularly tough on West Coast lawmakers.

Democrats, he predicted, might have to come up with a more structured approach, such as two weeks or three weeks of work in Washington and then a week back in the district.

Isn't that what working is all about? You don't get to choose when you work, you work the hours that are expected of you from your boss. The American public is the boss in this arena, and they voted for Democrats based upon many things, including campaign promises. Now Democrats don't seem to want to be held to that promise.

I've touched on this subject before, but it just amazes me that Democrats would break a promise such as this one so quickly. Plus, they aren't even going to have 5 day work weeks for quite some time, if ever.

Saudi's Ban The Letter X?

Because it looks like a sideways cross. Then you wonder why we tell the Saudi's that they aren't doing enough to stop terrorism when they try to pull this shit. When you teach hatred of any group of people, you're promoting terrorism.

One of the worst things the commission that wants to do this, has done was this little number:

One of the most criminal travesties committed by the commission's foot soldiers, the Mutawaeen, or religious police, was dramatically reported by the muzzled Saudi press itself on Friday, March 15, 2002, when the Mutawaeen forcibly prevented girls fleeing a burning school from leaving the building because they were "improperly dressed."

The day after, the Saudi Gazette newspaper quoted witnesses as saying the police stopped men who tried to help the girls, warning the men: "It is sinful to approach them."

Of the 800 teenage pupils in Mecca, 15 burned to death and more than 50 were injured. Yet, the commission and its royal enablers thrive.

Somalian Islamic Militant Arrested

Oh look, here's a big surprise. He was arrested in a refugee camp. What's with all of these Islamic militants who want to blend in with civilian areas? They don't want to face an enemy toe to toe. They know they won't win. So they decide to put on civilian clothes and then protest when we go looking for them in civilian areas.

They aren't honorable men. We call these types of people cowards. Then they have the audacity to bring Allah into the mix and swear they had nothing to do with militant activities, all the while, you'll find an RPG in their closet. Keep after them guys, it shows we will hunt them down wherever they may try to hide.

The Fence

So many people want the Israeli security fence torn down. They say it cuts off Palestinians from working in Israel. Well, they'll have a tougher argument now that it's held back two suspected terrorists with explosives on them. I find it odd that people don't want fences along borders. There's always going to be security checkpoints for people to come in and out of the country, so where's the problem?

Hanging Didn't Go As Planned

Well Barzan Hassan was decapitated during his hanging. While purely accidental, it's not unheard of. Too long of a drop will yank a person's head right off. Ridha said the two men, dressed in orange prisoner uniforms, "looked very surprised" that they were actually going to be hanged. They "were very apologetic," asking that they not be put to death, he said. "They asked God for forgiveness," he said.

Why would they be surprised?? They hung Saddam, so they thought that since they got the big guy, they wouldn't want to get the little guys too? Of course they were apologetic, they didn't want to die. But then again, they didn't seem to mind putting to death 148 people back in 1982. They weren't merciful then, so why do they deserve mercy now? Easy, they don't.

Two More Down

Saddam's half brother, and another defendant were hanged today for their involvement in the 1982 massacre in the village of Dujail. More down, more to go. I'm rooting for al-Sadr to be in the hangman's noose for his involvement with the murder of a rival cleric.
