Family Emergency

Due to a family emergency, I need to travel to Washington state today. I will be posting whenever I have a free moment, but I won't be posting as much as I usually do for the next few days. However, I will check my mail from time to time and reply as much as possible.

Former Naval Officer Arrested On Terrorism Charges

He discussed warship weaknesses and how they could be exploited for attack. He also tried to raise money for terrorism and misused classified information. If that doesn't describe treason to a T, then I don't know what does. Treason is a capital offense and if this guy did do these things, I say hang him high. His actions endangered the lives of hundreds or even thousands of people's lives on those ships.

Line Item Veto

This is actually a great idea. For those of you who don't know, when a bill is passed by the Senate, it goes to the President to sign into law. However, as many of you know, many items are tacked on at the last moment in hopes that the President will sign off on it because he wants to pass one particular part of the bill. For example, a budget bill might be passed with an additional law stating that purple people can smoke weed on Sundays. The budget needs to be passed, but if he doesn't sign it as is, it goes back to the Senate. This can hold up the government for a long period of time, and during which, we don't have a budget.

So, if the President is allowed line item vetoing, then he can say "I'll sign off on the budget, but purple people aren't smoking weed unless it's on Wednesday." This allows the budget to go through, but the purple people will have to work on a separate bill. This has many good repercussions and should be passed. However, this particular bill only mentions taxes and budgetary items, and should be amended to allow the President to line item veto anything that comes across his desk.

I am unsure though about amending the Constitution. It is a sacred document to me and should be messed with as little as possible. However, I am unsure if they can pass this into Federal law without amending the Constitution.

You Have The Right To Protect Yourself

Wow, this is from the "they need a law for this?" file. There is a bill going through congress right now to allow people to purchase firearms to protect themselves and others and grant them protections when they use that right lawfully.

Wait a fucking minute here! There should NEVER be a reason why people are arrested, charged, or prosecuted for shooting someone who's attacking you. If prosecutors or officers do so, they should be fired on the spot. If there's a question of legality, that's fine, but the bill gives 3 examples of law abiding citizens shooting attackers and then being arrested for defending themselves.

What REALLY bothers me is this statistic: Of the 2,400,000 times citizens use their guns to defend themselves every year, 92 percent merely brandish their gun or fire a warning shot to scare off their attackers. Less than 8 percent of the time, does a citizen kill or wound his or her attacker."

92% of the people just point the gun or just fire off a warning shot? That's ridiculous! If someone is attacking you, shoot to kill. That's the only real way that you know they will never harm you again. What if the attacker knows where you live? Do you think they may come after you after they get out of jail? It's quite possible. A dead attacker is no longer an attacker.

I've only had to point my weapon in VERY rare circumstances and when I did, and found that the "threat" wasn't a threat, I put down my weapon. However, the instant I pulled my gun, I was mentally and physically prepared to fire upon that "threat". If you aren't prepared for that, you shouldn't be carrying a weapon. It will only be taken from you and used against you. It's the whole "sheep, sheepdog, and wolves" mentality. However, you must be able to make life and death decisions within fractions of a second. If I were arrested for lawfully defending myself or anyone else, you can bet they'd have a NASTY lawsuit on their hands.

Suing For Casino Losses?

Christ what is it with people now a days? Suing a casino for your losses, regardless of how much, is just idiocy. So this guy lost $30 million in a year. Bad year by any stretch of the imagination, but you can be the casino wouldn't be suing him if he had won. Off topic I know, but people just don't seem to get that whole "personal responsibility" thing I've been telling you all about.

OJ And Anna Nicole, And Me.

I've tried to avoid talking about the whole Anna Nicole Smith thing as much as possible, but this one is just too funny to pass up. So OJ Simpson is claiming he has "slow moving sperm" and could be the father of her baby. There's a term that fits OJ perfectly, it's called "attention whore". He can't seem to be out of the spotlight for too long otherwise he goes crazy.

The funny thing is that I had a "slow moving sperm" situation in my life years ago as well. I was dating a woman and it just didn't work out. She came to me 6 months later and said she was pregnant with my baby. I asked her how far along she was and she said 2 weeks. She didn't seem to grasp the concept that you need to have sex within a VERY short time frame for it to have been mine. When reminded her we hadn't had sex in 6 months, she didn't seem to get it. After a while she decided to never contact me again and I found out later she was never pregnant to begin with. Ahh crazy women, life wouldn't be fun without you. :)

Toxic Fumes Made Me Download Kiddie Porn!

I've welded before and been exposed to the fumes that this guy is talking about. In all those years, I have NEVER had any kind of urge to download/create child porn. This is such ludicrous bullshit, I can't believe he had the nerve to say it in open court. Now, instead of just being known as a pedophile, he's now known as "The toxic fumes pedophile". Then he has the nerve to say that he only viewed the images once. There were 292 images found on his system. That means, according to him, he viewed child porn 292 times.

The thing is, had he just said "I admit I enjoy watching kiddie porn. I need professional help.", he wouldn't have made the news and certainly would have gotten the help he needs. Now, he's going to be the pariah of the Australian community.

Gun Control - An Example

So when you hear about people who want to get rid of guns in America, they love to point to instances where the parents don't properly lock up their guns or how they were careless one day and a child died. It is a tragedy that no one should ever have to face, make no mistake. However, there are instances where someone has lived because a hero stepped forward with a weapon and prevented that person from being killed. Here is one of those instances.

A man attacked his wife, stabbing her several times. He then poured gasoline on her and attempted to set her on fire. A hero stepped up and held him at gunpoint until officers arrived. His words were also very effective "Stop, or I'm going to shoot. And if you run, I'm going to kill you." So, are you still for gun control, or would you have allowed this woman to die a painful death?

Giuiliani Divorce A Problem For Evangelical Types?

I don't see all the fuss here. Catholics loved John F. Kennedy and he was a serial cheater. I think it's a bit hypocritical to love one person who cheated and not another. The only difference between the two men in that respect is their political beliefs. Perhaps that's why there's a bit of a fuss?

Iraqi Man Detained At LAX

Wires, magnet in his rectum, flight to Philadelphia. Nothing suspicious at all. I'm sure it's all that racial profiling that liberals have been barking about for years. This poor man is merely being singled out from the thousands of other people who walk through security at LAX with magnets in their rectums because he's an Iraqi. Yep, that's the ticket.

Barack Obama In Ethics Scandal Already?

Maybe, but take a look at this:

Less than two months after ascending to the U.S. Senate, Barack Obama bought more than $50,000 worth of stock in two speculative companies whose major investors included some of his biggest political donors, the NYT will splash on Wednesday Page Ones.

The paper claims, according to newsroom sources: One of the companies was a biotech concern that was starting to develop a drug to treat avian flu. In March 2005, two weeks after buying about $5,000 of its shares, Obama took the lead in a legislative push for more federal spending to battle the disease.

The paper's Mike McIntire and Chris Drew get front placement [side by side with Libby Coverage] for details of Obama's most recent financial disclosure:

It shows that he bought more than $50,000 in stock in a satellite communications business whose principal backers include four friends and donors who had raised more than $150,000 for his political committees.

A spokesman for Obama says the senator did not know that he had invested in either company.

Sounds a bit fishy to me. It may not necessarily be illegal, but it certainly sounds unethical. Story is developing.

Democrats Seize Upon Libby Verdict

"It's about time someone in the Bush administration has been held accountable for the campaign to manipulate intelligence and discredit war critics," said Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.

Indeed Senator Reid. It is about time that people were held accountable for their actions. Do tell me though, why is it that Democrats decided, to promote William Jefferson, a man within your own ranks, who's suspected of bribery to a position which will have access to classified information? I'd be very curious to hear your reply to that. But alas, I doubt we'll hear anything about that. When are you going to rattle against Representative Jefferson for his alleged involvement in bribery? Surely the balance of power means nothing if you have corrupt members within your own political party.

Who Hijacked My Religion?

If you can get past the goofiness and bad editing, this guy brings up some good points about extremists who have "hijacked" the Islamic faith. If more Muslims like him came out and denounced terrorism I don't think Islam would have the battered image that it currently has. Unfortunately, I think this guy is in the minority of those who are willing to speak up publicly.

Dead Russian Journalist Working On Russia-Iran-Syria Weapons Story

And of course it was just "suicide". Had nothing to do with this story. All coincidental I'm sure. My bullshit meter is pegged on this one. What is with all the Russian dissidents dying all of a sudden? Is the Kremlin actually killing these people? If they aren't, it's one hell of a coincidence. The chances of that happening are in the billions, it simply doesn't happen.

Bin Laden Trail Gets Hot Again

And Pakistan has allowed CIA guys into the country. Could this be the turning point towards finding him and his deputies? One would certainly hope so. Of course there will be detractors that say "if you kill him, there will be more to replace him." Well that may be, but he's responsible for the worst terrorist act in history. He deserves to die. If someone "takes his place" he deserves to die as well. If you keep killing them, eventually they may think twice before wanting to lead a life of terrorism.

Army Medic Guilty Of Desertion

Why is it that people seem to think that they can join the military, enjoy the benefits of the military, then think that they can just "not go"? My point is that this guy is a medic, he's part of a team, a very valuable part I might add, and he's letting his teammates down by not going. While I disagree with the actions he has taken, I'm hesitant to totally condemn his actions as I haven't "walked a mile in his shoes". I'm sure his fellow Army soldiers have condemned him much worse then I ever could. He now faces 7 years in jail and a possible dishonorable discharge. Pretty steep consequences for his actions and I am sure he knew that was possible when he decided to do those actions.

College Not For Everyone?

A nice read on how high school and a lackluster involvement of student interest is producing kids who aren't ready for college. My high school teacher summed it up nicely for us. He said: "high school is twice as hard as junior high school. College is twice as hard as high school. It gets worse from there."

Is college for everyone? No of course not, there's always going to be a need for people who don't want to better themselves in positions that pay minimum wage. Don't like your pay? Do something about it. Pay attention in school. Work extra hard at your current job. Learn valuable skills. Sooner or later, you'll find yourself doing less physically demanding jobs for a much higher pay range.

Officer Love Triangle

Never rub another man's rhubarb, I always say. But can you blame a guy for tasering the guy who's nailing his wife, especially since it's his coworker? The guy who did the tasering is of course, facing criminal charges. He's really lucky he didn't get himself killed. Officers are known for quick, life changing decision making abilities, and when it involves infidelity, that thought process can get thrown out the window. Men have snapped over less.

God, If You Love Me, Strike Her Down!

Before she makes any more movies! Mariah Carey is one of those "actresses" that just doesn't get it. No one likes a whiny, diva attitude type of woman and when she makes these movies, it only reinforces the thought that she's only a talented singer. So it's off topic, but I feel the need to warn my readers about the dangers that America faces, and this is one of them. :) It's almost like Glitter 2: Electric Boogaloo.

A Special Place In Hell

For a father who stabs his wife and then puts the knife in his toddler's hands and says "now you stab mommy". While I think we can all agree that hints of infidelity can bring about a sudden, often violent reaction, doing that to your child is reprehensible and will scar this child for life, even though the mother survived her wounds.

NASA Doesn't Have Funds For Tracking Asteroids

While I can sympathize with the funds issue with NASA, why does the US have to front the entire bill? Why can't we join up with other economic world powers such as China, Russia, Great Britain, France, Germany, and others to build an international consortium to track these deadly asteroids? Why hasn't Bruce Willis come forward to track these things on his free time? :) There should be a better way for everyone to work together to get a project like this going since it does effect everyone on the planet.

Indonesia Quake Kills 70

Here's where you'll find the biggest difference between us and the wacko's out there. When we have a natural disaster, Islamic militants come out of the wood work and say that "this is Allah's will, the American's deserve this". When it happens to an Islamic country like Indonesia, we say "sorry that happened, do you need help?" You don't hear as much rhetoric about how it's "Allah's will" that people in Indonesia are killed.

We offer food, medical supplies, and heavy equipment to help get these people back on their feet. So if you want to bash America, go for it, just remember who the real good guys are in this fight.

Guiliani And Responsibility

It's rare and refreshing to see a candidate state: "The responsibility is mine", even if it's a matter of a personal nature. I remember thinking the same thing when Janet Reno said about Waco "The buck stops at my desk, I take responsibility". Of course, it was found out later that the FBI used flammable canisters after years of denial, but that's another story.

Chinese Parliment Acknowledges Growth Problems

With great economic growth, comes great problems. Now China is finding that environmental issues are creeping up on them. With well over 1.6 billion people, they are having a difficult time with environmental issues now that people are becoming wealthy enough to buy cars/boats/electronics and other items. China is also going to have a problem when people start finding out that they are being censored to the degree that they are. People want to know the truth about what goes on in the world and sooner or later, they will find out.

The question on everyone's mind is: how high of growth can China achieve? Will that growth spur China to become a world superpower? Will China implode like the Soviet Union did in 1991? The one thing that Russia found out and that China will find out is that no matter what your social society is like (communist, fascist, etc), the one thing that overcomes all of those is simple human greed.

Greed will make Chinese people want what everyone else wants. Bigger cars, larger homes, better standards of living. If they don't get those, they will become disillusioned and either move away from China, or corruption will become rampant. Either way, China is in for a rude awakening.

Stocks Doing Better

The stock market has stabilized itself from it's little scare late last week and is coming back towards it's pre-scare levels. What I think we should really be concerned with is our debt and finding a way out of it. This countries debt needs to be taken care of as soon as possible so that we are becoming the lender instead of the lendee. Sooner or later, we'll have a fiscal crisis and it's best to deal with it now instead of when it comes to a head.

Let's All Hold Hands And Live In Rainbow Land

Good God, there are public schools in Washington state that want to ban booing opposing teams? Good luck with that. What do they plan on doing against those who boo anyways? Life is about competition. In that competition, there are people who root against you. That's just the way the life is. Say it ain't so! Two liberal documentary film makers are finding out more and more that their beloved Michael Moore is nothing more then a crafty editor and often ignores facts. They even claim that they were fans before they did some fact checking.

There was even an online petition by Democrats to shun Michael Moore that started with the line: "We Democrats and other supporters of John Kerry for president petition the Democratic National Committee to forthwith disassociate itself from filmmaker Michael Moore and reject his incendiary, propagandistic methods"

Al-Qaeda Planned Attack In Spain

Wait a minute, I seem to remember Osama Bin Laden offering a truce to any country that pulled out of Muslim countries. Well after the train bombing that killed 190+ people, Spain did indeed pull out of Iraq. Now there are 3 people on trial for planning a "skyscraper attack" against Spain. Well if Osama was a man of his word, he would have told these 3 people to call off the attack right??

Oh that's right, he's a murdering, terrorist asshole who can't be trusted for anything. Sounds to me like the US was correct in telling everyone that this is a significant threat and terrorists can't be negotiated with or appeased like liberals would want us to believe. So, I expect that there will be an apology for that in the near future? Nah, no one wants to admit the US was right. It's in fashion to hate the US, but when the shit hits the proverbial fan, watch who they come running to.

A witness has come forward and confirmed that things at Walter Reed hospital are indeed as bad as they say it is. If it pisses you off as much as it does me, contact your congressman/woman and let them know about it. It is completely unacceptable that our men and women come back with injuries and are subjected to conditions such as this. As a taxpayer, I expect that these people need to have state of the art equipment and the best doctors. I'm not asking you, I'm telling you.

To our representatives: Cut out the red tape. Get these people the best doctors and medical equipment the money can buy. Pay these doctors more then the private sector. That in of itself will lure bright new minds to the military instead of to the private sector. If you can't do that, then I'll vote someone in who can.

Bank Robbery = "Bad Choice"

How about calling it like it is? Your child is involved in bank robbery, that makes them a bank robber. They aren't "little girls that made a bad choice." She's 19 and yes, did indeed make a bad choice, but she's a big girl now and will have to live with the consequences of her actions.

Parents: STOP CODDLING YOUR CHILDREN! You are making things much worse for your children if you bail them out, minimize what they've done, or allow them to skirt their responsibilities in any way. If you want to point to a single thing that is "what's wrong with America" this is it. Children, even those just hitting adulthood, are not being responsible for their actions and don't understand what it means to be an adult, and the mother of this bank robber is a prime example.

Government Aid Given To Terrorist Loving Universities

You would think that after a ton of aid that we give to almost every other country on the face of the planet, they'd be a bit more grateful towards us. Let's take this prime example of giving scholarships to Palestinian students towards studying at their university. They aren't even studying at a US university. You'd think that they'd be more willing to think positively towards their benefactor, but instead, they go on and on about how Hezbollah and Hamas are great and suicide bombings are ok for society. So, let's start cutting off aid to those who take our money and spit in our collective faces. Sure, they'll say "go ahead and we'll get money from another superpower". But you all know that China and Russia aren't giving up a dime more then they have to.

Don't believe me? When a major natural disaster occurs, who does the world turn to? Who does everyone have their hand out to when the going gets rough? The USA that's who.

Fuck Bill Maher

This guy reminds me of every weasel type of person I've ever met. He's say and do whatever it takes to make sure that he gets ahead. Next up: He's sorry the recent attack on the US base in Afghanistan targeting Dick Cheney failed.

You can agree or disagree with Cheney's politics, but to say you're sorry he's still alive just means that you're nothing more then a subhuman prick who should be dropped from HBO's lineup and be eating out of a garbage can within 5 years. See, I don't agree with him, but I don't wish death upon him, just misery. There's a big difference.

He doesn't even know how to defend the ideas that he's trying to portray with regard to past events:

MAHER: I used the word we, we have been. That was a mistake because it's vague, and I apologize, as I do, to the military if they took it the wrong way. But I've been a huge military defender on this show, that is one of the things you and I would agree on, Bill, and maybe have when you were here.

What I was talking about was the policy making body of this country, which has not responded and had not responded before this, to terrorism the way they should. I was saying basically that they blew up our embassies in Africa. That was not a small thing. And embassies -- I know it's way over in Africa, that is American soil. And 100 people...

O'REILLY: So you're basically laying this at the doorstep of your guy, Bill Clinton. Is that we, his administration?

MAHER: OK, but you know what, as a society now we're coming together and we're all lobbying in the same way toward the president.

So when that happened I didn't hear a big out cry from Congress when Clinton did that. The country was satisfied to handle the problem that way. The country did not want to tackle terrorism then. And that's what we did, we lobbed a cruise missile at a pharmaceutical factory. Same thing when we tried to get bin Laden the last time.

Notice how he didn't reply to the question directly? He knows damned good and well that Clinton didn't do his job to protect this country from threats. He even states it:

"What I was talking about was the policy making body of this country, which has not responded and had not responded before this, to terrorism the way they should. I was saying basically that they blew up our embassies in Africa"

But then he has the audacity to blame Congress and the American public.

"The country did not want to tackle terrorism then."

We didn't KNOW there was a threat then. We had heard little blurbs on the news, but that was about it. Clinton had all of the intelligence in the world at his feet and chose to do nothing of substance about it.

So, Fuck you Bill Maher. You may not agree with the handling of terrorism with this administration. But don't think that because we did something about it that people aren't alive today because of it. Hell, YOU might be alive today because of the actions that this administration has taken. They took terrorism seriously after a terrorist attack unlike you and your favorite, cowardly Clinton administration.

China To Increase Military Spending

I think China's gearing up for a fight over Taiwan. They certainly don't want to pick a fight with our guys when they know that they'd get stomped because of our vastly superior military and they certainly don't want to pick a fight with their #1 customer. What I do see is that China wants to poke around and see the feasibility of forcefully returning Taiwan back to mainland China. That's why you see them poking their noses around our military secrets and technology. They want to know how to defeat it and what our tactics and intentions are when/if China ever decides to act.

But we should be vigilant about protecting Taiwan and China's sneaky behavior. Without knowing their true intentions, we should start asking for harsher penalties against people arrested for espionage and break into their military networks and see how they like it.

Afghan Media Claims US Troops Deleted Photos

I'm not so sure as to what to make of this. There's been a ton of claims by various people about troop behavior in the field, and almost all of them have proven to be false. While this does deserve an investigation, I think there needs to be a punishment to the Afghanistan media if these allegations are found to be false. Media blackout, firings of involved parties, etc. We've sat by and let people say all sorts of things about us in the past and it's high time we started fighting back when and if things that are said are not true.
