Democratic Appeasement

Remember when I talked about Democrats meeting with members of the Muslim Brotherhood and how I said it was bad and that it was a terrorist group? I got tons of emails saying we should be nicer to these people since they've renounced violence and blah blah blah. Well then explain to me why one of their top guys is calling for attacks on Israel, Iraq and Afghanistan??

Reminds me of this phrase....it's right off the tip of my tongue....oh yeah! I TOLD YOU SO!

Russia's "News"

When you have rules such as "news about Russia must be at least 50% positive" and "The United States needs to be portrayed as the enemy", that isn't news, it's propaganda. That's how you know our news is more news then propaganda because they run stories about the good and the bad about America and other parts of the world.

I get the feeling this "news" organization will be getting almost no ratings because people are smart enough to figure out that you're bullshitting them.

Possible Two Month Budget Extension For Troops

Wow, two months, that ought to help. Regardless, my favorite quotes are from Rep. Jim Moran.

He was not as clear about whether the non-military spending, such as money for peanut storage, reimbursement for spinach farmers whose crops were recalled and asbestos removal in the Capitol, would be included. Moran simply said he didn’t like it.

“I wish we’d take that s--t out,” Moran said. “It was all put in by leadership after we wrote the bill, and it didn’t get us a single vote.

You're right Mr. Moran, it didn't get you a single vote, but it did show that Democrats are willing to lower themselves to pork spending in order to buy votes. It shows that Democrats are desperate to appease their fringe constituents about the war in Iraq. It also shows that the stereotype of "tax and spend" Democrats was quite true.

Alec Baldwin Explains

You just can't make this stuff up folks.

"Although I have been told by numerous people not to worry too much, as all parents lose their patience with their kids, I am most saddened that this was released to the media because of what it does to a child," he wrote. "I'm sorry, as everyone who knows me is aware, for losing my temper with my child. I have been driven to the edge by parental alienation for many years now. You have to go through this to understand. (Although I hope you never do.) I am sorry for what happened. But I am equally sorry that a court order was violated, which had deliberately been put under seal in this case."

So let me get this straight, the RELEASE of this voicemail to the public was what "saddened" you the most?? The fact that you ripped into your child like an adult and called her a bunch of horrible names isn't up on the top of your list??

Then he goes on to say that the court oder was violated. He's trying to shift blame for what he's said because he knows that he's been caught and people are rightfully pissed at him.

Typical celebrity bullshit "apology". Don't bother to just say "I lost my temper with my daughter and said some cruel things. I apologize to her and no one else."

I could actually respect a guy for saying that. I'd still like to see his knuckles racked for it, but it would make me think better of him. But instead he blames everyone else in the same breath that he "apologizes" to his daughter. Good one Alec, way to stand up and be a man.

Nuclear Security

There is no greater threat then having our nuclear designs and secrets out into the public. That's why when I read about the lax security in place at Los Alamo's National Labs it pisses me off. A woman was caught with thousands of pages worth of classified documents in her house. However, it does appear that she was merely getting behind in her work and took the documents home (she copied them) to work on them.

While I can appreciate someone getting behind and wanting to work on them at home, there is NO excuse when you're working with some of the most sensitive documents in America.

She would save highly-classified documents onto a "thumb drive" and then take the material home to work on after hours, she has said. The practice of inserting thumb drives was specifically forbidden by then DOE secretary Bill Richardson in 1999, but was apparently not uncommon at Los Alamos. Using thumb drives, and at least one wireless (WIFI) device that was improperly in the secure area, it would have been possible to transfer secret material from classified computers to non-classifed computers, a process known as "migration" . Since the discovery of Quintana's breach last fall, computer ports have been plugged with glue to prevent thumb drives being inserted.

While that's a permanent way of dealing with the "thumb drives" issue, there's a lot more, less destructive ways of doing it.

My network is much more secure then the Los Alamos National Labs?? We don't run wireless AT ALL. I don't care if they use revolving 1024 bit encryption keys that change every 2 seconds, if you can see it, you can crack it. Thumb drives are limited to a select few people and everything is logged including who copied what to what drive. EVERY FILE. So if something were to happen, I know who did what when. But then again, my work isn't with sensitive, classified materials like this.

The Los Alamos IT staff really need to get on the ball here. None of my critical servers run Windows. They are all automatically updated nightly, including every available security patch. I get daily reports on the various activities that are ran on the server, and anything out of the ordinary is thoroughly investigated. Regular penetration tests are ran with the latest and greatest tools.

If they have problems or questions, I'd be happy to help out. Network security is one of my forte's. Plus, they could let me have a nuclear bomb casing as payment (without all the innards of course). I might use it as a deterrent against those pesky neighbors of mine.

We Police Our Own

So here's the difference between Republicans and Democrats on the topic of corruption.

Democrats put suspected corrupt members such as William Jefferson into positions of power.

Republicans resign until the investigation is complete.

I'm all for cleaning out corrupt members of Congress, regardless of political party, but there's no way in hell that a suspected corrupt member of Congress would get a promotion like Democrats gave William Jefferson.

The VERY least thing that Democrats should have done if Jefferson wouldn't resign is put him somewhere where he didn't have access to classified materials. His obvious guilt (who keeps $90k in their freezer?) means he's a security risk and he cannot be trusted, but do Democrats care about that? Obviously not, they only seem to care about holding onto the razor thin majority in both parts of the Senate.

"John recognizes that if we are to succeed in restoring trust between the American people and their elected leaders, this action is necessary, and I commend him for having the courage to do the right thing," Boehner said in a statement.

So when are Democrats going to do the same? They call for Bush's impeachment or resignation with such a passion, you'd think that their very lives depended on it, but there's no fire in their bellies when it comes to Jefferson or Clinton's allowing Osama Bin Laden to live after he was known to be a threat.

The Dumbest Woman On The Planet

I know I give people a lot of crap for the various things they say and do, especially politicians, but this woman goes into my "Idiot Hall Of Fame".

A woman decided to go pay for a field trip for her child, then when the teachers had their backs turned, she pulled out a fake cap gun and pointed it at the children and pulled the trigger several times.

Read that proceeding paragraph again. Twice if you need to.

"A staff member and several children initially thought the gun was real and were fearful," police chief Mark Johnson said in a press release.

"A teacher's assistant witnessed her take a gun and point it directly toward four to five kids.

Now tell me that if a cop was at the school on unrelated business (happens all the time with various things), and he saw this, that this woman wouldn't be in the hospital or the morgue? I know if I saw what looked like a gun in this womans hands, I'd shoot her. I'd rather get sued by her (you know she'd find some sleazy lawyer to take the case), rather then have the nightmares of children being shot going through my head for the rest of my life.

McCain: "Tough"

So everyone got their panties all in a bunch over John McCain's recent "bomb bomb bomb Iran" bit. I personally wasn't offended, as much of the country wasn't offended. However, you're always going to have people who are professional "I'm offended" types who are hypersensitive to anything. Most times those who said something "offensive" give a half assed "apology" because they think it'll make things go away.

Well John McCain took a different approach: "lighten up and get a life."

It's so refreshing to see a politician, regardless of political party, stand up and tell critics to stuff it.

Asked by reporters Thursday if he thought the joke was insensitive he said: "Insensitive to what? The Iranians?"

Why is it that people CAN'T be insensitive? Reporters were obviously prodding McCain to see if they could get something out of him, but it looks like he wasn't having any of it. I make comments all the time that could be considered "insensitive" or "offensive", but basically, I tell those people to go screw themselves because I have Freedom Of Speech. It goes both ways. You'll notice Democrats can say all sorts of offensive things and then cry "Freedom of Speech", but when a Republican does it, people call for apologies left and right.

McCain was right to tell those who were offended to "lighten up". A lot of people in this country need to.

Harry Reid has proven himself to be a liar again

Quoted November 30, 2006:

Now he's the commander in chief, and we're not going to do anything to limit funding or cut off funds, even though there are some on the outside who suggest that,'' House leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) has said. "I think we want to make sure that the troops have everything that they need.''

April 20, 2007:

White House spokeswoman Dana Perino called the Democrats' stance "disturbing" and all but dared Reid to cut off funding for the war.

"If this is his true feeling, then it makes one wonder if he has the courage of his convictions and therefore will decide to de-fund the war," she said.

Reid has left that possibility open. The majority leader supports separate legislation that would cut off funding for combat missions after March 2008. The proposal would allow money to be spent on such efforts as counterterrorism and training Iraqi security forces.

Reid and other Democrats were initially reluctant to discuss such draconian measures to end the war, but no longer.

This is why you can't trust Democrats. They say one thing, then they turn around and knife you in the back when you're not looking. This isn't even some fringe Democrat, this is the Majority Leader in Congress. This is one of the ones that most Democrats look up to.

The Pentagon has already said that they have funds available until June. If Democrats don't have the necessary votes to push their bill through to override a Presidential veto, then all they are doing by waiting is hurting the troops in the field. This is the worst kind of underhanded, sneaky bullshit to try to appease their constituents who don't have the stomach to fight against those who wish to wipe us and the Iraqi's out.

They say it was a war over oil, if so, why didn't we just keep it when we had it in 1991? I remember bumper stickers from that time frame saying "no blood for oil".

If you think gas is expensive now, watch what happens to it when Iraq can't pump it out because of the violence that will erupt because we aren't there to stop it.

They say that we should just let the Iraqi's have their "civil war" and we should do nothing about it. So you're saying that we should allow innocent civilians get slaughtered when they are going to the market by al-Sadr's militia instead of taking them on with trained, armored soldiers who have a much better shot at defeating them?

But then they turn around and make impassioned speeched about how we should "do something" about the situation in Darfur. So which is it? Should we go help fight in Darfur, but not in Iraq? I fail to see the difference between the two.

Hypocrites.

In his testimony, just about everyone on both sides of the fence agree that Alberto Gonzales' testimony yesterday made him look like the sneaky little fuck his is. Early Birthday Present - Part 2

I normally don't report on celebrity news because I could personally give a shit less, but I can't resist on this one. We all can agree that Alec Baldwin is snobbish liberal douche bag right? Well apparently he decided to scream at his 12 year old daughter like he would an adult. He called her names, threatened her and basically showed the world what kind of man he really is. Take a look and listen here.

Baldwin's lawyer, Vicki Greene, told TMZ, "Whatever happened yesterday was sealed and confidential. What you're telling me you've got you shouldn't have." So they aren't denying that he said it, they are just pissed that the world sees Alec for the prick that he is.

Holy Crap On A Stick!

My birthday isn't for another couple of months, but I just got one hell of a birthday present. I've spoken before about Representative Carolyn McCarthy's bill that would reintroduce the assault weapons ban and make it tougher then the 1994 bill ever was. Now, she was on MSNBC and the topic of the legislation that she drafted came up and the host of the show asked her about a "barrel shroud".

She admitted that she didn't know. You liberals out there can defend this all you want, but if you're going to try to ban something, you sure as hell better know what you're trying to ban. It's all in the video, take a peek. This has almost 0% chance of passing now that she's admitted that she doesn't know and took a guess, wrongly, as to what it is. Do us a favor Mrs. McCarthy, stick to things you know about and leave our Constitutional rights alone. It says "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.", just in case you are too busy to look it up.

Iran Making Nuclear Fuel

So the IAEA now confirms that Iran is indeed making nuclear fuel in it's 1,300 centrifuges. The question is: What is the world going to do about it? Are they going to take a hard line like they should, or are they gun shy because of Iraq and willing to let a threat increase in strength every day to make a few bucks? Let's take a look at a damning statement:

The three-paragraph note by IAEA deputy director Olli Heinonen also said Iran had stopped letting inspectors verify design work at the Arak heavy water reactor, under construction and scheduled for launching in 2009.

Iran has to date refused to let the IAEA install video cameras pointed at the underground centrifuges and stopped allowing snap inspections last year in retaliation for U.N. pressure, saying it had no legal obligation to either step.

The threat continues to grow here people. You have a nation who actively supports the insurgency in Iraq, supports Hezbollah and Hamas, called for the destruction of a nation (don't tell me it was a mistranslation, the threat was repeated many times and translated by many different translators), and even their Arab neighbors don't trust them so much they are wanting to start their own nuclear programs in retaliation.

This situation needs to be nipped in the ass as soon as possible, otherwise you'll have yourself a standoff of catastrophic levels.

Democrat Claims Iraq War "Lost"

I fail to see his logic here. Maybe someone can help me understand it. We decimated the Iraqi military within months. We removed a brutal dictator from power. We freed a nation from tyranny. We removed a known threat who was planning terrorist attacks on our soil. We brought terrorists to Iraq rather than New York or any other US city. We removed a man who was in possession of WMD's regardless of what liberals will have you believe.

The problem is that liberals don't want to see any of these things. People automatically assumed that we were going to open up a warehouse filled to the rafters with sarin and VX gas. Saddam was very concerned with his place in history and if we had found WMD's in quantity, it would confirm everyone's suspicions. So he hid them. We simply haven't found all of them. The UN has stated that Saddam has had weapons that were not accounted for, so where did they go? Iraq is a very large place, so it's not inconceivable that he hid them and we simply will find them months, years, or even decades after the fact.

But that's not good enough for Harry Reid. He wants a "nintendo" war. He wants things to be in a nice, clean package. He wants war to be over with and everyone to be happy and live in fantasy land. He doesn't want to look at hard statistics showing that the increase in troops is pushing deaths down significantly across the country. He doesn't want you all to see that Bush was right.

He even has the nerve to point out similarities to the Vietnam war. That's fine, let's continue with those similarities. Democrats undermined troops, cut funding, and were responsible for a loss of morale.

Who better to point that out then a guy who was in BOTH wars, Lieutenant Colonel Joe Repya and his now infamous speech "I'm tired.
" Even Lt. Col. Repya can see the hypocracy and half truths coming out of Democrats.

The truth is, is that the Iraq war was won YEARS ago. Nation building isn't something that the military normally does, so yes, mistakes will be made, but don't bullshit me and tell me that you "support the troops" while you undermine their sacrifices and say that the war is "lost" when it isn't. Doing so basically tells them that everything they fought and died for was for nothing.

Just because you didn't get your way with the White House, doesn't mean you get to throw your hands up and call it quits. Children do that, not leaders in Congress. So grow up, and get over it.

Keith Olbermann Misleads Public About Gun Laws

At least one of the weapons used by the shooter is believed, as we said, to be in nine millimeter semi-automatic pistol, which would look like this one, with a clip designed to hold more than 10 shots. Clips like those were banned under the Assault Weapons Law of 1994, but Congress and President Bush allowed that law to expire more than two years ago.

WRONG!

Clips like that were banned from being MANUFACTURED. Existing clips were in fact, LEGAL to buy and sell during the entire decade that the law was in effect.

What bothers me most is that Keith's blatant attempt to take a snip at Congress and President Bush for something that neither of them were responsible for. No one except authorities even knows how large the clips were that the shooter uses, but a high profile "journalist" such as Keith Olbermann doesn't care about the facts, he cares about the ratings and his burning hatred of Republicans and President Bush.

Russia Doesn't Want Part Of Missile Defense Shield

Well if Russia doesn't want to be a part of it, they have no room to bitch about it then do they?

"We believe this strategic anti-missile defense system is somewhat chimerical, to put it mildly," he said.

"One can find a much cheaper response to any such system," Ivanov said.

So Alberto Gonzales has apologized for the recent firings of the US attorneys. "They deserve better from me and the Department of Justice which they served for many years." Unfortunately for Democrats questioning Gonzales about his involvement in the firings, nothing illegal has been done. Otherwise Democrats would have a field day and call for his resignation or firing. They haven't done that on a scale that you'd see if something illegal had been done.

Congress To Be More Open For The Lazy

There's a bill going through Congress right now that would require Senate folks to start filing various papers in electronic form. I can't imagine there being much resistance to this bill, but I don't think that some in the Senate realize that this would allow people to search a massive database of documents and catch people with their own words. I'd personally love to see this implemented as it makes my job as a political blogger much easier. :)

From The "Ungrateful Prick" Bin

So a guy is dumb enough to weld next to a gas can in his garage. His welding sparks land in the can and spark a massive fire. The fire department comes and he tells them that there's ammunition in the garage. The ammunition starts firing off round after round because of the intense heat. The fire department decides to not go in because of the ammunition. What does the guy say?

"Thanks for coming and helping with the fire, don't send your guys in there because I don't want them getting hurt from the bullets?"

NOPE!

Schloetzer told Local 6's Erik von Ancken that he questions whether firefighters did enough to save his home.

UNBELIEVABLE!

"There was too much looking at each other and…(shrugs)," Schloetzer said."I'll speak for my guy and there was no delay," Orange County Fire Battallion Chief Reggie Price said. "We come into all of these calls in an offensive mind meaning we are going to go in, knock down the fire, put it out and save anybody inside."Price said the ammunition changed the strategy of fighting the fire."When we had that amount of fire and the ammunition going off, we changed into defensive mode," Price said. "That meant we had to back up a little bit and reposition our lines."

You can rebuild a house, you can't bring back a fireman to his family if he dies from bullets going off inside your house. Let it burn. It's only wood, sheet rock, and furniture. As long as no one is inside the house, the fire department did the right thing.

So fuck you Fred Schloetzer, your house isn't worth a man's life.

Sudan Repainting Their Aircraft To Look Like UN Planes

Expect the UN to write up a nasty letter condemning the practice and nothing to actually to be done about it. They then take these newly painted aircraft and bomb Darfur. So if they do that, that means that they aren't following the Geneva Conventions. So what the UN SHOULD do is account for all their aircraft, then bomb the hell out of the other aircraft. But of course, this is the UN, absolutely NOTHING will happen from this.

Hey wait! I know! Hollywood celebrities are constantly telling us we should do something about Darfur. Well I'm sure they won't mind supplying the funds needed to purchase some military aircraft and hire a few mercenaries to bomb Sudanese aircraft painted to look like UN aircraft right?? Or is it that they say we "should do this and this" and not actually back it up with their own money, time, and energy? Nah, this is Hollywood! Wall Street Journal Copied Me!

Ok, not really "copied", but they wrote about our open society and how there's little that can be done to stop mass killings like the Virginia Tech ones. Sounds vaguely familiar to an article I wrote just after the shootings. If someone wants to go on a rampage, there's little that can be done unless a bystander happens to be armed.

Now the spotlight is on Presidential candidates and their views on gun control. So far, to me, the most disturbing one is Barack Obama. His views is he wants to ban all semi-automatic guns. That's pretty much every gun on the market. That means that if you want to fire another shot, you have to recock the gun. That can take away precious seconds from someone defending themselves or the lives of others. Obama needs to get his head back to the real world where there are literally hundreds of thousands of examples of people lawfully using their weapons in the defense of American citizens.

Supreme Court Upholds "Partial Birth Abortion" Ban

While I agree with the woman's right to an abortion, this particular method is pretty brutal. I don't see why it needs to be banned by law though. A woman has the right to an abortion at any point during pregnancy. But I do have a problem with what one judge wrote.

The opponents of the act "have not demonstrated that the Act would be unconstitutional in a large fraction of relevant cases," Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote in the majority opinion.

"A large fraction of relevant cases"? It shouldn't matter if it's one woman's case or 3/4 of the abortions, a womans rights are her rights and it is wrong to uphold a ban because it wouldn't be relevant to a "large fraction"

My "Supportive" Wife

So, let me ask you something. If I have an article that is cited on a reputable newspaper's website and I "publish" articles here on this site, does that make me a "published author?"

My wife and I have a fun little argument on if this site and the newspaper citation makes me a "published author." She says no, I say yes. Of course, there are people out there who'll love to agree with her just to spite me, but I am curious on the answer.

We looked it up on Webster's dictionary on what "published" means and here's the results:

Main Entry: pub·lish
Pronunciation: 'p&-blish
Function: verb
Etymology: Middle English, modification of Anglo-French publier, from Latin publicare, from publicus public
transitive verb
1 a : to make generally known b : to make public announcement of
2 a : to disseminate to the public b : to produce or release for distribution; specifically : PRINT 2c c : to issue the work of (an author)
intransitive verb
1 : to put out an edition
2 : to have one's work accepted for publication

Pretty straight forward if you ask me, but my wife is shaking her head "no" at me as I write this.

Now she's saying I'm an ass for telling you all this.

Now I'm getting the "dare." "Go ahead, "publish your stupid little article, see what kind of answers you get."

Now she's disagreeing with me on the wording. "I never said 'publish.'"

I guess we'll see.

Now Politicians Are Getting Into It

Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-California, issued a statement saying, "I believe this will re-ignite the dormant effort to pass common-sense gun regulations in this nation.''

Uhh...the gun was purchased LEGALLY Senator Feinstein. The Virginia Tech shooter was of age, he had 3 different pieces of ID and passed a background check. Those aren't "common sense" enough for you Senator? Passing a federal background check and showing ID to prove you are over 21 and can legally own a weapon? What the hell else hoops would you like law abiding Americans to jump through? Would you like us to jump when told? Face it, you can't take away our Constitutional rights no matter what your twisted belief system is. Whether you like it or not, the shooter was a law abiding citizen up until the time he pulled the gun out on his first victim.

Even the Virginia state governor is against Senator Feinstein:

Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine said he wasn't interested in arguments about gun control.

"People who want to take this within 24 hours of the event and make it their political hobby horse to ride, I've got nothing but loathing for them," Kaine said at a Tuesday evening news conference.

If you want to turn tragic events into political spectacles, how about we start with your public airing of evidence against Richard Ramirez, AKA The Night Stalker.

In 1985, at a press conference, she revealed details about the hunt for Richard Ramírez, otherwise known as the Night Stalker, and in so doing angered detectives by giving away details of his crimes, including actual displaying evidence at the press conference. These revelations subverted their investigation and Ramirez left the San Francisco area to commit another murder before he was finally captured in the Los Angeles area.

What do you say about that Senator Feinstein? What do you say to the family of Bill Carns, the man who was killed after Richard Ramirez dumped all the known evidence that you detailed in a press conference, thus, throwing police off of his trail? You have no right to comment on violence and gun control because your own incompetence indirectly caused the murder of an innocent person.

Dick Cheney To Be Impeached?

Well that's a pretty serious accusation, and Dennis Kucinich is certainly within his power to do so, but let's take a look at something: Article II, Section 4 of the Constitution gives Congress the authority to impeach the president, vice president and "all civil Officers of the United States" for "treason, bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors."

Has Dick Cheney committed a crime? I can't think of one, but maybe Congressman Kucinich knows something I don't. But if he wants to bring about impeachment hearings, I'm ok with that, as long as he does the same for William Jefferson. You know, "treason, bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors." When is Jefferson going to be facing down the barrel of an impeachment hearing for his bribery scandal? That's a damning bit of evidence to have $90,000 in marked bills in your freezer.

Italians Trying US Soldier In Abentia

They are trying US soldier Spc. Mario Lozano for his role in the shooting death of Nicola Calipari because Mr Calipari was involved in a rescue operation of Giuliana Sgrena and was speeding towards Mr. Lozano's checkpoint. Mr. Lozano claims that he first fired at the ground of the speeding car, then the car engine, then into the occupants.

The Italians claim that the car wasn't speeding and that the soldiers didn't signal there was a checkpoint.

"You have a warning line, you have a danger line, and you have a kill line," Lozano told the New York Post in an interview published earlier this month.

That's pretty straight forward to me. If you see US soldiers and a line of cars, it would make me think there was a checkpoint. Also, it's pretty easy to determine if what Mr. Lozano is saying is the truth. Check the car's engine. He said he fired at it, so therefore, there should be a bullet hole somewhere. If that's the case, he fired a warning shot and the driver should have stopped. Maybe I missed my calling as a trial attorney.....Nah.

Congress Starting To "Play Chicken With Our Troops"

Well now the Army is saying that it will slow repairs on equipment because the funds are starting to run dry. When is Congress going to do something about it? This isn't going to end well and Democrats are going to get the brunt of it if they don't act soon. They are the ones in the majority and the President has already said that he will veto any bill that contains a timeline. Democrats do not have enough votes to override a timeline, so therefore, Democrats are the ones who are hurting the troops by delaying funding.

"Support our troops" indeed.

The Finger Pointing Begins - Part 2 - Video Games

Dr. Phil Blames Video Games.

What? How the hell does Dr. Phil even know that this guy played video games? Easy, he doesn't. Him and Jack Thompson are using this tragedy to further their agendas and get their names out into the public eye. It's politicizing a tragedy and it's unacceptable.

You cannot tell me - common sense tells you that if these kids are playing video games, where they’re on a mass killing spree in a video game, it’s glamorized on the big screen, it’s become part of the fiber of our society. You take that and mix it with a psychopath, a sociopath or someone suffering from mental illness and add in a dose of rage, the suggestibility is too high..

Umm, excuse me? I've played video games for almost 30 years and have NEVER killed anyone. I've played everything from the first Atari's all the way up to Grand Theft Auto - San Andreas and have NEVER thought of picking up a gun and massacring a school full of people. That's a cop out and you know it.

The Finger Pointing Begins

So now the parents of one of the students at Virginia Tech is calling for the firing of the police chief and the President of the university. They say that they didn't do enough to stop the carnage at the school. They don't care that this was an attack on a grand scale. They don't care that the school was a "gun free zone" and therefore, no one could take out the shooter. They just want heads to roll because their child was murdered by a nutcase. They don't dare attack the shooter because that would be too convenient.

“My God, if someone shoots somebody there should be an immediate lockdown of the campus,” said John Shourds. “They totally blew it. The president blew it, campus police blew it.

Ok Mr. Shourds, tell me, how would you lock down a school with multiple buildings across the campus with almost 10,000 students on school grounds at any one time?

At about 9:50 a.m., Alexandra Shourds told her father a subsequent e-mail was sent to students instructed them to stay put and not go anywhere.

His own daughter admits that she got an email stating to not go anywhere and stay where she was. Sounds like a lockdown to me.

“I hold this president completely accountable,” said Shourds. “They are cowards. They can’t come out and say they made a mistake.

It's easy to call people cowards Mr. Shourds. What did you do once you heard about the shootings? Did you go down to the school armed and ready to take out the shooter? If not, then you have no right to slam these people for the decisions they made during a time of crisis.

These Parents Are Perfect Examples

Of how NOT to raise your child. Bribing them for good behavior?? Even they admit that their parents would be appalled at them bribing their children for being good. What did they get for their bribes?

Whipple has noticed a downside though — what she calls a “sense of entitlement.”

“Often times, it leads to good behavior with a question attached: ‘What are you going to give me?”’ she says.

EXACTLY! Kids these days have no idea on how to earn their way through life. They, as a general rule, expect things to just "happen". These parents are setting their children up for failure. A supervisor at their first job or their first job out of college isn't going to put up with that kind of crap. I certainly wouldn't.

She doesn’t want it to become an expectation. But she also concedes that having two kids has made it more difficult to stick to the ideal, especially in public settings.

“There are times when you have a second child, and you’ve got to change a diaper. And you find yourself telling your (older) child that ‘I will do anything you want if you will just stand here and behave,”’ says Powell, who’s 34.

Exactly again. These kids will know that they have you by the neck and can do or say what they want and know that they will get their way if they throw a tantrum. What happened to "be good, or I'll paddle your ass?" People these days get angry at parents that cave to their children, but then will call Child Services when a parent disciplines their child in public. You can't have it both ways here people. Either you raise productive members of society and deal with how they are raised, or you have whiny "gimme gimme" entitlement kids and live in fantasyland when it comes to raising children.

My aunt is the queen of disciplining children. Well I should say she WAS the queen. She let's her grand children get away with things she would have beaten her son and I for. I can't say I blame her though, my cousin and I used to play with fire, staple guns, power tools, hot wheel race tracks, her blankets were used for building forts, and much much more.

She had this uncanny ability to beat you with whatever was within reach really well. We were slapped around with wooden spoons, hot wheels race car tracks, an open hand, whatever was handy. No where were other parents telling her she shouldn't be doing that. No where were other parents feeling sorry for my cousin and I after we did something wrong. It was just the way things were. We don't even mess with her now, even though we are both a foot taller and a good 100lbs heavier then her. She now has this move where she'll punch you in the upper part of your chest where your collar bones meet in the middle of your chest. No matter how big you get, that spot is always open and she exploits it for her lack of size. Back in my day, uphill both ways, in the snow! Good God I'm getting old. :)

Irresponsible Journalism

So there's a rumor that the gunman who killed 32 people at Virginia Tech today was a Chinese immigrant on a student visa. I'm wondering when ABC News will call for the revocation of student visa's and the immediate deportation of all foreign students based upon this bit of evidence? Nah, they don't have a bias against Chinese students, but they sure will take a stand against law abiding gun owners.

As noted earlier in my posts, there are people coming out against "automatic weapons" and "large capacity ammunition clips", but according to the above article, the gunman had two 9mm pistols and multiple clips. You can get a standard 10 round clip even under the assault weapons ban, so with 2 in the guns and 4 in a waist band, it's easy to see how a person could go on a rampage and kill a lot of people with even "small capacity clips". But funny thing is, you don't hear that in all the major news outlets, you hear about gun control advocates and their idiotic ramblings before any facts are known.

Authorities Get A Backbone

This is exactly what SHOULD have happened. Muslim cab drivers at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport have been refusing to pick up passengers with alcohol on religious grounds. Now, the commission for that airport has voted 11-0 to force the cab drivers to pick those customers up. If a cab driver refuses, they get their license suspended for 30 days. The second offense gets a 2 year suspension.

You can't tell your boss that you won't do your job on religious grounds. They won't stand for it. You'll soon find yourself in the unemployment line if you do.

More Anti-Gun Nutjobs Coming Out - This Time It's "ABC News"

I would think that bloggers on ABC News would be a bit more fair and report just the news. But before the gunsmoke had even cleared, they were pushing their anti-gun agenda down the throats of their readers.

At the time of that post on ABC's website, literally NOTHING was know about the gunman. No name, no weapon type, not even whether or not the gunman used a high capacity clip in his weapons. So why is it it that the first thing this article starts out with is: High capacity ammo clips became widely available for sale when Congress failed to renew a law that banned assault weapons.

First off, Congress didn't "fail" to do anything. They let lapse a law that didn't effect crime one bit and only pushed the sales of certain types of weapons and ammunition clips through the roof for law abiding citizens.

The article goes on to say:

Web sites now advertise overnight UPS delivery of the clips, which carry up to 40 rounds for both semi-automatic rifles, including 9mm pistols, and handguns.

"High capacity magazines read extreme firepower and gusto. Stock Up!" is the headline of one of many gun shop Web sites.

Which is obvious sensationalism at its worst. But then the next paragraph reveals something:

Virginia law enforcement officials have not identified the weapon used in the shootings today at Virginia Tech, but gun experts say the number of shots fired indicate, at the very least, that the gunman had large quantities of ammunition.

The author admits that they don't know anything about the gunman, or if he had high capacity clips or not. They just say it "indicates that he had large quantities of ammunition." Well no kidding, he shot 60+ people, meaning he had to have by definition, at least 60+ rounds. Does that mean that he had 1-100 round clip or 10-6 round clips?

Regardless of what the gunman indeed have, the author of this article's blatant attempt at sensationalism should have never gotten past the editor's desk. No facts were known, (strike 1), they push a story that could possibly be false (strike 2), and they then admit they don't know jack about the story until more than 1/2 way down the article (strike 3).

I at least make sure of my facts before I post and lead with my sources. To do otherwise would be unfair to my readers and unfair to the people who are the subject of my articles. It's called honesty folks, some people learn it when they are toddler's, some people don't ever learn it.

So Soon? I'm Astonished!

I thought the gun control people would start pouring out of the woodwork after a few days, maybe 2 weeks tops, but wow, this idiot came out HOURS afterwards. He doesn't even bother to hide his obvious bias against gun ownership with comments like this: "To me, 18 or 19 lives matter more than anyone's right to own automatic weapons."

What's funnier is that this guy doesn't even have a valid argument. Automatic weapons have been illegal for YEARS.

"Gee, if the students had their guns,'' a gun nut will now argue, "then maybe they could've stopped him."

Umm...yeah, that's right. The same can be said for those who were flying on hijacked aircraft on 9/11. Just because someone is armed doesn't mean they can't defend themselves or the lives of others. Some people don't want guns, that's fine, don't buy one. But don't encroach on my right to own one.

You can write to this idiot if you'd like. Here's his email address: rbragg@express-news.net

School Shootings And Our Society

With the unfolding events at Virginia Tech, I thought I'd comment on things that we have to deal with when we have an open society.

When you have a society where anyone can come and go as they please, you have open targets for someone with a chip on their shoulder or a screw loose in their heads. I know I've walked into buildings after shootings and thought: "if I were a gunman, I'd go here and here and here". That's the problem, we have liberty in exchange for security. You can walk anywhere you'd like in America freely and yet, you could do the same with a weapon hidden and kill unsuspecting people.

We'll always have mass murders such as this with the society we live in. It's inevitable. The problem is that you'll soon see people come out of the woodwork asking for further restrictions on guns regardless of if this person got their gun legally or not. You'll see heightened security at various campus' around the country that will do no good, and you'll only be trading liberty for security.

I don't know about you, but I'd rather have the liberty.

A Perfect Use For The "Pain Beam"

As if officers have enough problems dealing with a suspected murderer holed up in an abandoned building, now they have to deal with almost 100 people pelting them with rocks. This would have been a perfect example of an appropriate use of the military's "pain beam". Basically it's a microwave gun that makes a person feel like they are being burned without actual physical damage or permanent scarring. The gun is still a bit large for officer use, but I think it would have been appropriate for these people to start getting hit with beanbag shells and pepper spray for their abuse of officers. They are really lucky they weren't arrested or shot.

James Bond Escapes

Might as well have been Mr. Bond himself for this daring, helicopter assisted escape from prison. While I do hope they capture the guy, I do applaud the audacity and careful planning that this plan must have required.

Britain's Getting Soft

Now they aren't going to be using the phrase "war on terror"? Seems a bit weak kneed if you ask me. Democrats seem equally weak in this area. When you go to war, you need to fight to win. Don't pussy foot around and show weakness to your enemy. Get the MI6 spooks on the job, assassinate Al-Qaeda leadership, shut down or destroy everything that your enemy touches. If you suspect someone is involved in terrorism, follow them, wiretap them, do whatever it takes to get the information that you need. If they aren't involved in terrorism, move on. It's really not that difficult here people. This guy seems to get it.

Gonzales In The Hot Seat

So Alberto Gonzales is going to be testifying about the recent firings of several US attorney's. Democratic Senator Schumer says that this testimony will be "make or break", but didn't elaborate on what that means.

Gonzales has already admitted he "misspoke"

Gonzales said he "misspoke" at a March 13 press conference when he said he was not "involved in any discussions about what was going on" -- a statement later contradicted by his chief of staff, Kyle Sampson, who resigned amid the uproar.

"At that same press conference, I made clear that I was aware of the process," Gonzales' testimony will state, noting that Sampson was involved in the process for determining "weak performers."

Gonzales conceded his March 13 statement was "imprecise and overbroad, but it certainly was not in any way an attempt to mislead the American people."

Where I come from, that's called a "lie". This guy needs to be fired for his gross incompetence, flagrant statements about the rights of Americans, and he just comes off as a weasel. Funny thing is, as much as I despise this guy, no one seems to be putting William Jefferson in the hot seat over his bribery charges.

What Congress Was Doing

So, for Congress to be out and about while precious time ticks away for the need of emergency spending for US troops, where do they decide to spend their time? Why the Carribean of course! So while a US troop is waiting for much needed supplies and ammunition, Congressional members are going to various "vacation" spots because of "port security"? That's a load of bullshit and everyone knows it. They were even caught in a mini lie. "At the Caneel Bay resort, where room rates reach $1,100 per night, the spokeswoman said Thompson and his wife paid the “government rate.” But, according to the reservations department, Caneel Bay doesn’t “offer any government rates.

So what are we going to do about all this abuse? I say we start demanding term limits. Get fresh blood into Congress. You can't tell me lifelong members of Congress such as Ted Kennedy is a "man of the people". Get people into Congress who worked their way up from nothing, who know what's going on on the streets rather then opinion polls and lobbyists. But what are the odds of someone voting themselves out of a job? Probably close to 0%.

Al-Sadr's Guys Quit Politics

Well if they quit politics, then that means that they aren't allowed to have explosives or anything other then a standard AK-47 that everyone has. That means that they are now arrestable and Moqtada Al-Sadr is now a legitimate target.

Al-Sadr's guys political guys have resigned their posts because Iraqi leadership won't put a timetable on when US troops will leave. Hmm...Democrats want us to leave, Al-Sadr's forces want us to leave and they have been roaming the streets killing innocen
