Chat Software

I'm currently playing with multiple items, and so far, I like Meebo's chat software the best. Especially since it allows me to inject it directly into the site. I especially like that you can create a free account. Anyways, I'll be testing it out and be on from time to time. Feel free to give me a buzz if you see me on.

What If Lincoln Survived His Assassination?

Quite an interesting "what if" article, especially given that modern medicine could have very well saved President Lincoln's life.

But the better question is: would we think so highly of him as we do now? Would he have been just another war President? We can use the example of any celebrity who died young.

For example, Jimi Hendrix. If he was still living, he would have likely released albums that sucked, aged, and had his world views change and he may have said or done things that the American public might have chastised him for. However, he died young after releasing only a relatively short amount of musical material, and thus, cemented him into everyone's mind. He never got a chance to suck. :)

President Lincoln may have done things in a similar way. He may have done or said things that made him irrelevant to history. Of course, there are other bits of American history that had they not happened, America as a nation might be very different.

For example, it's well known that George Washington was offered to be King of America after the defeat of the British. However, he turned it down because he knew that's what everyone fled from to begin with.

Alas, history will never know. Even today, the actions we take now have a profound effect on the future. What happens if Iraq turns into one of America's closest allies? What happens if Iraq becomes a blossoming economy and everyone looks to these times as ones of turmoil, but one that was done for the right reasons? Would history be kind to George W. Bush?

What about Iran? What if they do develop a nuclear weapon and use it on Israel or America? Would history be kind of China and Russia for their foot dragging on the issue of stopping them from getting a weapon?

"What if" usually isn't what really would have happened. It's usually a best guess based upon the behavior of people who knew the person who died. However, history has shown that even people who think one way, might go another in various circumstances.

Iran Tells US To "Stop Meddling" Over Detention

Well I'd be happy to stop "meddling" in your affairs Iran if you'd stop "meddling" in the affairs of Iraqi insurgents. I'd be happy to stop poking my nose into your business as soon as you stop supplying insurgents with $10,000 sniper rifles, high grade explosives, and training.

So stop with the "meddling" hypocritical bullshit Iran, no one's buying it.

"Make Hamas Pay"

Well it's about time the Israeli's have decided to get tough on Hamas. With recent rocket attacks in Israel, it appears that it's yet another round of tit for tat. Israel needs to take Hamas completely out. Kill everyone from the top guy on down to Hamas' accountant.

Predicting that Kassam rocket fire would continue over the next few days, the officer said that the IDF planned to continue its current policy of bombing Kassam manufacturing plants, warehouses, Kassam rocket squads and other Hamas infrastructure involved in terror attacks.

He also hinted that the IDF operations could continue even if Hamas stopped firing rockets.

Israel is not "conducting a dialogue" with Hamas, he said, and added that IDF operations were not necessarily dependent on the continuation of rocket attacks.

"We're not just attacking real estate. We want to make Hamas pay for the terror," he said.

That's ideally what you want. You want them to think twice before firing rockets into Israel. You need to make them think that by firing a rocket, they have sealed their own doom or the doom of another Hamas member. You'll notice you don't see CAIR or any of these other Arab organizations denounce Hamas firing rockets into Israel, which frequently hit civilian homes and kill innocent women and children.

Terrorists only know one thing: force. You show them that you're not fucking around, and they will either ratchet up the attacks (which leads to all out war), or they run like hell. Generally, it's the latter that happens. Terrorists are cowards who attack unsuspecting innocent people, and the world needs to start playing hardball with these people.

John Murtha In Trouble

John Murtha had a bit of a tussle with Senator Rogers today over an earmark that Murtha wanted for his home district. Senator Rogers is fighting back and asking that the House look into Murtha for House rules violations. Below is a transcript of what was said:

“I hope you don’t have any earmarks in the defense appropriations bills because they are gone, and you will not get any earmarks now and forever,” Murtha told Rogers, according to the draft transcript given to The Politico.

“This is not the way we do things here – and is that supposed to make me afraid of you?” Rogers replied.

“That’s the way I do it,” Murtha said.

Makes him sound like an asshole doesn't it? Unfortunately for Murtha it's against the rules to do that. Those rules, which forbid members from blocking earmarks based on how a colleague votes.

About the earmark though. It seems to be just pandering to Murtha's constituents.

President Bush’s budget cut $23 million from the budget to force the agency to close the office, which has received repeated low marks from several federal review boards.

If they aren't doing their job and getting proper work done, then it gets shut down. Simple as that. That sounds like responsible spending to me. But Murtha's pissed that Bush is shutting it down. What's worse is that Senator Rogers is actually trying to spend our money wisely and Murtha is trying to bully him.

“This is exactly why Americans are disgusted with out of control federal spending,” Rogers said in a statement.

“In order to restore the faith of the American people in Congress, we must do better," he said. "We can’t allow members to be threatened and intimidated when they stand up for hard-working taxpayers’ money.

But then of course, we have the obligatory statement from Murtha's office.

“The committee and staff give every Democrat and Republican the same consideration,” Murtha said in a statement sent out by his office. “We have extensive hearings and every request is given careful consideration. We will continue to do just that.

Uhhh...that's not what you said Murtha. You said: "I hope you don’t have any earmarks in the defense appropriations bills because they are gone, and you will not get any earmarks now and forever"

That sounds like you're playing politics with American taxpayer money and propping up poor performing government agencies. People are sick and tired of government waste and the deficit, and when someone challenges you in your blatant attempt to appease your constituents, you try to bully them. You violated House rules, and now you should rightfully pay for that.

American Morality Compass

Tell me something: Why is it that violence and murder are ok to talk about in graphic detail, but sex and nudity isn't? Opie and Anthony got into trouble for making a joke about violent sex with various prominent women. Personally, I don't see the fuss. You'll notice that the majority of "complaints" that the FCC and other regulatory bodies get are from various groups that don't represent the majority of the American public.

XM is already hemorrhaging customers because of their decision to suspend Opie and Anthony. That's based in part that when you purchase a satellite radio, you're SUPPOSED to get uncensored radio. When you suspend a DJ for making comments, you're showing yourself to be a hypocrite.

But my point is a much larger one. Why is it that on CSI you'll see graphic violence and details of horrible ways to die all day long, but people get upset if they see one tit? To tell you the truth, I'd rather have it the other way around. I'd love to see boobies on TV all the time and occasional violence. But then again, I'm a man, so you'll have to take that with a grain of salt. But I'm pretty sure that my women readers would love to see a hot shirtless guy on TV much more with the occasional butt shot. (every woman I know doesn't like to see the wang).

In Europe you see sex on TV much more then you do here in America. They seem to be ok with all of it. They haven't spun out of control and turned into mindless, sex crazed maniacs (at least all the Euro types I know)

Sex solves everything for us men. Bad day at work? Wrecked the car? Lost your job? Sex will fix all those problems. It's not the same for women, they usually use shopping as their "fix all".

So I propose this: More boobies on TV. More shirtless men on TV (for the women and gay men in the audience) People getting a grip on their own lives before trying to complain and impose their idea of morality on the rest of us. For example, a report came out a few years ago that showed that 1 group was responsible for 99% of all FCC complaints. That doesn't sound like the majority of American public opinion to me. So, that said, more boobies on TV! Who's with me!

How Many People Do You Have To Kill?

Ok, I can understand if you're anti-death penalty if someone kills another person. I don't agree with it, but I understand it. However, when a person is responsible for the massacre of 7 people in a restaurant, and you still get a life sentence because 1 person held out, I don't get it. We put people down like animals for less then what this guy did.

We've executed people for kidnapping where no murder happened. We've executed people who've killed only 1 person, so how is it fair that this guy gets off with a life sentence for killing 7? It's not fair to those he killed. But alas, that's how our judicial system works. Want to change it? Do something about it. Run for office, petition the government to change the law, write to your congressman. More and more as I write my posts and see the idiocy in government and law I feel the need to run for office.

Al Gore's Book

Here's an excerpt from Al Gore's latest book, and I thought I would share my rebuttal for Mr. Gore.

Not long before our nation launched the invasion of Iraq, our longest-serving Senator, Robert Byrd of West Virginia, stood on the Senate floor and said: "This chamber is, for the most part, silent—ominously, dreadfully silent. There is no debate, no discussion, no attempt to lay out for the nation the pros and cons of this particular war. There is nothing. We stand passively mute in the United States Senate."

Why was the Senate silent?

Because Mr. Gore, the Democrats in power want to do what keeps them in power, not what's "right". Perhaps the American public like the way things are going. Ever think of that?

In describing the empty chamber the way he did, Byrd invited a specific version of the same general question millions of us have been asking: "Why do reason, logic and truth seem to play a sharply diminished role in the way America now makes important decisions?" The persistent and sustained reliance on falsehoods as the basis of policy, even in the face of massive and well-understood evidence to the contrary, seems to many Americans to have reached levels that were previously unimaginable.

A large and growing number of Americans are asking out loud: "What has happened to our country?" People are trying to figure out what has gone wrong in our democracy, and how we can fix it.

Well when you come up with an idea to "fix it", I'm all ears Mr. Gore. When Democrats come up with ideas that don't endanger the American public, appease terrorists, raise taxes, involve pork spending, or treat the American public like children, I'll be happy to listen.

To take another example, for the first time in American history, the Executive Branch of our government has not only condoned but actively promoted the treatment of captives in wartime that clearly involves torture, thus overturning a prohibition established by General George Washington during the Revolutionary War.

Here's where you and I are going to disagree severely Mr. Gore. First off, regardless of how these people are treated, they are NOT covered by the Geneva Conventions. First off, they don't wear uniforms. They don't fight for a particular country. They attack civilians. They attack known populated areas. They are trying to find and use WMD's. Shall I go on?

And let's face facts here Mr. Gore, these people want us all dead. You and other liberals are wanting to find out their "feelings" and find out the "root cause" of their "feelings". We want them dead.

The American public wants blood revenge. They kicked us in the nuts on a sunny Tuesday morning and killed 3,000 of your countrymen. People who's only crime was going to work that morning. These people were burned, crushed, leapt, or crashed to their deaths. ALL of them were horrible ways to die. Especially for those trapped above the wreckage. They were trapped for 45 minutes to an hour knowing that they were going to die. You can even hear them scream as the towers collapsed all around them.

So you'll have to excuse us because we aren't bleeding heart fucking lunatics who want them to be treated "fairly". They really ought to feel lucky I wasn't President. I would have given them one chance to hand over Osama and his gang of thugs. When they say "he didn't do it and we won't hand him over", you've sealed your doom. After your announcement that he's not being handed over, your country is a sheet of green glass that will be uninhabitable for the next 10,000 years.

So I think what I'm trying to say is: Fuck you Al Gore. Yeah...that about sums it up for me.

Don't Act Like Babies

I sometimes need to rap the knuckles of those within my own political party. This is one of those times. Michigan Republican Party Chairman Saul Anuzis, wants to ban Ron Paul from future Republican debates because of his recent 9/11 comments suggesting that those attacks were because of US foreign policy.

Leaving Ron Paul out of debates shows that you are being petty and vindictive because someone has an opinion different from your own, regardless of how offensive that opinion might be. Let the American public see what kind of idiot Ron Paul is, and they'll know he's nowhere near electable. So let him up there, he has no chance of winning, and it shows that you're man enough to allow a level playing field.

More Good News From Iraq

A coordinated attack aimed at freeing 300 prisoners from Iraqi jails was thwarted today by Iraqi forces.

At least nine bombings in and near the northern Iraqi city of Mosul on Wednesday were aimed at freeing hundreds of inmates from an Iraqi prison, Iraqi and U.S. military sources said.

A high-ranking U.S. military official said Thursday that Iraqi security forces showed they were trained and ready with their response to what he said was the largest insurgent attack in that part of Iraq in eight months.

This is exactly the kind of news that Democrats DON'T want to hear. They don't want to hear about how Iraqi security forces are starting to step up. They don't want to hear about how things are starting to show improvement. But more importantly, they don't want to see that George W. Bush was right. Iraq was in need of regime change. Saddam was a threat. Saddam needed to be removed from power. And, most importantly, Iraq can stand on it's own given enough time and support.

Lesson Learned?

That's right kids. Make sure that if you're in a position of power, you hire people who are worthy and qualified to be in that position, rather than hiring your girlfriend. Otherwise, you might be unemployed yourself. Paul Wolfowitz announced his resignation as the World Bank head honcho today over his handling of the pay for his girlfriend.

Let's be honest here too, what girl is gonna want a guy with no job? It's probably for the best anyways. I don't want people handing out jobs to people who aren't qualified. I don't care if it's for the World Bank or McDonalds.

The End Of The World.

Oh my God. I think the end of the world is finally here. Pack up your things because we're all going to heaven/hell. Nancy Pelosi and I agree on an issue.

Nancy Pelosi, speaker of the House of Representatives, which must also pass the bill, echoed Reid's sentiments.

"While the bipartisan Senate agreement starts the process, I have serious concerns about some elements of this proposal -- the bill must be improved in the Senate," she said.

Republican and Democratic aides said the deal was intended to move the US immigration system to a merit-based system, rather than prioritizing claims for extended families of immigrants.

Say goodbye to your relatives. Get your affairs in order. The end is nigh!

We're Being Sold Out

Here we go again. Illegal immigration is a hot button topic right now, and if existing laws were enforced, we wouldn't be in the mess we're in now. Now, Ted Kennedy has come up with a plan that he expects President Bush to ok. Here's a few problems that this plan has.

ILLEGALS:
• Those who arrived before January 1, 2007, will be given immediate work authorization, granted a "Z" visa and put on path to permanent residence.
• Head of household must return to home country within 8 years. They will be guaranteed back in.

Excuse me?!?! 8 YEARS?!?! They have 8 fucking years to get out!?!? Then they get a measly $5000 penalty if they don't? If they have a child in the US without paying their hospital bill (which is quite common in southern states), they easily eat that $5,000 up within hours of their hospital stay.
• Penalty: $5000, staggered

ENFORCEMENT:
• Double border patrol, new security perimeter, border fence.

This I can get behind. More border patrols, getting the fence up and operational. However, I don't want a fence on the Mexican border. I want one on the Canadian border as well. Let's not forget that the "millennium bomber" came into Washington state via Canada and was caught by a border guard who was keeping her eyes peeled.

GUEST/TEMP WORKERS:
• Guest worker program cannot begin until enforcement provision is in place.

Fair enough.
• 400,000 temp workers per year enter on two-year visas, must return home for a year then re-enter for additional two years. They may come three times.

Who's going to keep track of this?
• Earn points toward merit-based green card.
• May bring families on 30-day visitor visas each year.

Only if their families are not on the "no fly" list and pass security.

What it doesn't say is what they are going to do about the immigrants who came here legally. The ones who sat in line, learned English, and played by the rules. It's not fair to them to just let illegals go right past them. Let's not forget that Ted Kennedy is a slimy little weasel, so anything coming from him is always suspect in my mind.

What I do agree with heavily though is this:

In perhaps the most hotly debated change, the proposed plan would shift from an immigration system primarily weighted toward family ties toward one with preferences for people with advanced degrees and sophisticated skills. Republicans have long sought such revisions, which they say are needed to end "chain migration" that harms the economy, while some Democrats and liberal groups say it's an unfair system that rips families apart.

Sure, if you're a smart person, you should definitely get a bump over someone who doesn't. It means that that person with a degree is much more likely to contribute more towards society and pay taxes on higher wages. Democrats say that'll rip families apart? Democrats fail to remember that these families don't HAVE to come to America. They can stay in their home country or go to another one if they'd like.

I'm not anti-immigrant by any means. That's what makes our country the way it is now. Many cultures and subcultures living in a land where if you put your mind to it, you can achieve anything you'd like. However, you must play by the rules. I don't expect England or China or France to give me the same rights as their citizens if I came there illegally, so why should we give illegals the same rights as our citizens?

When you think of torture, you think of medieval racks, iron maidens, and waterboarding right? Well that's what I think of anyways. Well when a Guantanamo Bay prisoner talks of torture, I'm expecting to hear things like that and worse. But alas, "torture" is the following things according to one prisoner:

unscented deodorant and shampoo

playing sports with a ball that did not bounce

baby pictures taken away

not given a DVD player

people who cleaned cells left marks on the walls

Oh my fucking God. You've GOT to be kidding me. THIS is torture? I thought our guys were peeling skin off of Al-Qaeda guys while they sat in a bathtub full of salt? I thought our guys were doing REAL torture, not this sissified bullshit version of torture.

Well there's only one way to fix this injustice! We need to step it up! We need to show these guys why the USA is #1 in everything we do! Hell, hire me. I can be creative when the shit hits the fan. I'm "burner" kind of guy though. Flames will get a person to speak up quicker then anything. But you can't burn too deeply, otherwise you'll kill the nerves and they won't feel pain. You need to give just first and second degree burns. You know, the kind of flames that were experienced by people who were relatively close to the crash site in the World Trade Center that survived.

Nancy Pelosi's Memory Problem

Well it seems after the Democrats heavy losses lately, Nancy Pelosi is pulling a major "I'm taking my ball home" act. She's using House rules to shut down Republicans from even being a part of the debate to bills that are being sent through the House.

My my Nancy, you seem to be losing your long term memory. Perhaps it's time to hang it up? Perhaps it's time for a doctor's appointment to check for Alzheimer's? Because less then 3 years ago, Nancy put forth a "Minority Bill Of Rights" that would guarantee those in the minority, regardless of which party, would be allowed Republicans to be on the floor.

Pelosi's document, which she vows to honor if Democrats regain the majority, says: "Too often, incivility and the heavy hand of the majority" have silenced Democrats and choked off "thoughtful debate." She called on the majority to let the minority offer meaningful amendments and substitutes to important bills.

Well we can see how well she keeps her "vows". She's wanting to change rules that have been in effect for 185 years. This is why you have such low ratings Nancy, you don't keep your word on anything. You claim that in Democrat's "first 100 hours" that you were going to clean up Congress, make 5 day work weeks mandatory, and get rid of the "culture of corruption".

When Tom Delay was indicted you had this to say:

House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi, of California, called the indictment "the latest example that Republicans in Congress are plagued by a culture of corruption at the expense of the American people
.

But just a little while later, you allow William Jefferson, a suspected corrupt member of your own party, to be promoted to a Homeland Security position of power. Because that's what America needs Nancy, a man in charge of our security who is suspected of being able to be bought and paid for.

If you want your approval rating to be above President Bush's, then you need to start acting like a responsible leader rather than a hypocritical, power hungry weasel. But right now, you're leading an organization that's trailing the President by 4% (29% vs. 33%) and yet you claim to have American opinion on your side. Face facts: You don't.

Democrats Keep Losing

Now they've lost another round of voting that would have provided funding for the war in Iraq in two large payments. Even though the Pentagon has said that that wouldn't work and it would cause disruptions. Even though commanders are saying that that would cause a significant crimp on their operations. No, that's ok, let's go ahead and knife the troops in the back.

A Hollywood Actor Who "Gets It"

Finally, I can rest a bit easier because not everyone in Hollywood is a complete idiot. Bruce Willis made this recent statement:

"I don't think my opinion means jack s**t, because I'm an actor. "Why do actors think their opinions mean more because you act? You just caught a break as an actor. There are hundreds - thousands - of actors who are just as good as I am, and probably better. "Have you heard anything useful come out of an actor's mouth lately?" He adds, "Although I liked George Clooney's documentary on Darfur."

I don't mind if an actor has a particular opinion about a world event, but don't tell me how to think for myself. Don't tell me how to vote or how everything I think is "wrong". I'm looking at you Rosie. Mr. Willis is right: Just because you're an actor, doesn't mean your opinion means more then anyone else's.

Prince Harry Won't Go To Iraq

There have been specific threats against him and his team, so he won't be going to Iraq. Well what about the general threats against troops? Independant Expert Says We Must Stay In Iraq

Funny how Democrats don't want to hear what this guy is saying. If we leave Iraq it will become a "terrorist Disneyland" and we will have to come back in 2-3 years.

"Clearly al Qaeda are focusing on Iraq now, and focusing on some sort of propaganda victory over the United States," Sir Richard Dearlove told reporters. "Whether that's an actual victory or not, if they can claim in the Muslim world that they've done well, then that puts us in a very difficult position. This is really an aspect of withdrawal that hasn't been properly considered. That's why I think we can't just let Iraq go its own way."

That's exactly the point I've been making for the past several months and yet no one has heard a thing I've said. I wonder if I can get a trip to Lloyd's of London and speak to these people. I can't imagine it's really that difficult to understand. If we leave, they'll claim victory. Period. You couple that with the Internet's ease of use and propaganda abilities and you have the potential for very bad things to happen in Iraq.

The Arguments Of A Guilty Man

William Jefferson knows he's toast. $90,000 in marked bills were found in his freezer that were part of a bribery scandal. However, rather than argue against that overwhelming evidence, he's arguing that the FBI raid was unconstitutional.

That's how the guilty work. They don't argue "hey this evidence is false. I didn't do it". They argue that "this procedure was wrong" or something along those lines to get off on a technicality. Good luck Mr. Jefferson, the American public is onto your line of bullshit and although you may have won the election (God knows how that happened), you'll have a hell of a time getting back into Congress with a criminal record.

Travis

Congress Doing Worse Than Bush

It's VERY telling when Congress tries to use the whole "we have the American public opinion on our side" argument in their quest for power, but they have an approval rating 4% lower than the President's (29% vs. 33%)

Now of course, you'll have Democrats who want to tell you that they don't listen to polls, but when another one comes out that says that President Bush is Hitler reincarnated, you'll see them trumpet that. The bottom line is, is that Congress has really no leg to stand on in the majority of their arguments. I don't think the American public is against the war per se, they are just wanting to see soldiers coming home in one piece and Iraq being stable. They want Iraq to hurry up and become stable (as if that's going to magically happen).

The American public as a whole don't like seeing the ugly things associated with war. People die, are severely injured or a small fraction commit war crimes. These things have happened in every war in the history of the world. But now with the instantaneousness of communications and technology, people can see it up close and personal when it used to be just stories that Grandpa used to tell to the grandchildren minus the gory details.

Third Party Candidate?

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg is rumored to be seriously contemplating putting his hat into the ring for the Presidential election. With an estimated $1 billion in campaign spending out of his own pocket, it is quite conceivable that he would be a very serious contender. Of course, being that it's just a rumor, we'll have to wait and see what happens in the coming months. However, with that kind of cash anyone can be a serious contender just like Perot was in 1992.

Let's Get Rid Of Those Pesky Homeless

Funny how when the Democratic National Convention comes to town, Denver wants to make sure all homeless people are off the streets by opening up "emergency shelters".

However, the ranks of the chronically homeless have been shrinking in Denver recently, and city officials have speculated they may not need to open the emergency shelter again. But that won't be the case come 2008, when there will be an all-out effort to bring everyone inside.

So what happens after the DNC leaves town? I'll bet the farm that those "emergency shelters" are suddenly closed and those people will soon be forgotten. Compassionate party indeed.

Democrats Aren't Serious About Terrorism

Democrat Bennie Thompson is wanting to strip out a part of a bill that would grant immunity to people who report suspicious activity from being sued by those who were being reported.

I want you to take a good deep thought on that. The American public is the first line of defense when it comes to terrorism. Officers simply can't be everywhere at once and they depend on tips to thwart terrorist attacks. Bennie Thompson, who's the Chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, thinks it amounts to racial profiling. He's either the dumbest person on the planet, or has a very short term memory. For example, in my article "Democrats Will Doom Us All", I showed what would happen if political correctness gets out of hand.

Actor James Woods reported suspicious activity and it was found that the men he reported were among the September 11th hijackers. It was later learned that FAA officials didn't follow up on the report because it would be "racial profiling". That came back to bite everyone in the ass just 6 weeks later.

Yes, that same "racial profiling" that everyone's afraid of lead to non action that caused the deaths of 3,000 American citizens on September 11th. Democrats are simply too weak and spineless to deal with the threat of terrorism.

Don't believe me? Take a look at the vote to grant immunity to citizens who report suspicious activity. 304-121. ALL OF THE PEOPLE VOTING "NO" WERE DEMOCRATS.

Notice that whenever you read about the war on terrorism that Democrats will use quotations: "War on Terror" like it's a catch phrase or something. Rosie O'Donnell called terrorists "phantoms" in that the threat we face is simply made up by the Bush Administration.

This is the exact same situation that we faced in the 90's with President Clinton. He didn't take the threat of terrorism seriously enough and his inaction allowed Al-Qaeda grow into a formidable threat.

Take a good whiff of what's happening to your country people. Democrats are willing to let political correctness take precedent over your safety. The Fort Dix case was broken because a guy working the photo lab was paying attention and his reporting to authorities his suspicions saved the lives of countless soldiers and contractors at the base.

I don't ever want to be the guy to say "I told you so" because that means that a terrorist attack has happened to my fellow countrymen and women. I want Democrats to take this threat seriously enough to actually do something about it and not appease organizations like CAIR who only want to tear this country down. I want them to do what they are supposed to do: Protect and serve the American public. If they can't do that, they don't belong in office.

I disagree with Rudy Guiliani on many issues, but he's right about one thing: Democrats will make this country less safe then Republicans, and it shows by their actions.

One More Step

Well you can't say that we're not being thorough over the Iranian nuclear program. The only questions is: who will blink first? The consequences of doing nothing are very high. Iran supports Hezbollah, a known terrorist group. Israel would like to take out this known threat asap. Much of the world's supply of oil flows right through major nearby shipping lanes.

Iran is not only not stopping their nuclear program, they are stepping it up. With unanswered questions about items that can only be used for weapons, if Iran continues in this direction, they could have a nuclear weapon within a year or two. Is Israel going to stand idly by while this goes on? Is Iran just doing all this for show like the North Koreans? All I know is, is if an Iranian nuclear weapon goes off anywhere near American soil, I want Iran to be leveled into a glowing green glass parking lot. I don't want bacteria to survive.

Get Off My Lawn!

Ok, I'll admit it, this next post is going to make me sound like an old man yearning for the "good old days", but I owe it to my readers to tell the truth.

This guy is the EXACT thing that is what's wrong with America. Shiftless, unwilling to take on hard tasks, nothing like you'd expect a man to act like. Take a look at this:

It took Robert Hinojosa seven years to pick a major and stick with it to collect a bachelor's degree.

He dropped out once, made all F's another semester, and dabbled in engineering and small-business management before finding something he could see himself doing long term.

"Ever since I changed my major to art, I've made the dean's list every semester," said the art/media graphics major last week. "The Internet and Web development industry is growing at 15 percent a year, so I see the potential."

7 years for a 4 year degree?? It's one thing to try and fail, but this just has failure at life written all over it. A degree in art? Well that's all fine and dandy, but check this next part out:

One problem may be that he talks too much, Hinojosa said. "I have a lot of aspirations, and I don't want to be in a job for a long time. I guess that's not the thing to tell a future employer."

Well no shit. You tell ANY employer that you're not going to want to be there long, guess what happens? You don't get hired. You have to be willing to make sacrifices for companies to get ahead in life. If you aren't willing to show that you're willing to go the extra mile, you're going to be flipping burgers for the rest of your life.

What ever happened to men acting like men? George Carlin had it right, the American male is becoming very pussified. Sure, I can point out many examples of American youth that are acting like men: They hold doors open for a lady. They are responsible. They defend those who need defending. They have a job. They buckle down when things get tough and overcome the hurdles that they face. This guy just quit after each hurdle that he faced. That's not a man.

If you're ever kicked in the teeth by life, kick back. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and give it another try. It saddens me that I even need to post about this. I see some of today's youth and I wonder if a few years from now they are still at their dead end job while their classmates who worked harder and never gave up are now driving around in a new Mercedes.

Perfect example: My friend whom shall name nameless because I don't know if he wants to be outed, is graduating from college this June with a pre-med degree. He's going to be a surgeon. I used to get late night calls from him telling me how he was discouraged because he was having difficulty with this class or that. But what makes him a perfect example is, is that he did all of these while battling cancer. He had a tumor on his throat, spinal column, and I think in his abdomen. Although I might be wrong on that last one. But the fact is, is that he never gave up. Sure, he WANTED to, but he never did. He always made sure that his goal was in the front of his mind and he did whatever it took to reach that goal. That's why when he graduates he'll be driving around in the new Mercedes while the "art" guy will be drawing doodles while in the unemployment line.

Old News

Granted this is old news and probably occurred even before I started this blog, but I wanted everyone to see this. John Murtha was investigated 27 years ago as a part of a bribery scandal involving other members of Congress. While Mr. Murtha wasn't convicted, I am bothered by a statement that he made about being bribed with $50,000: "I'm not interested. At this point."

That means that for whatever reason, he decided to tell these people that he was interested in a bribe at a future time. He could have said "I'm not interested. Thank you", but he didn't. He told them he would be interested in the future. The fact that this tape has been hidden away for 27 years now is a shame and needs to be explained to the American public. Of course, Mr. Murtha's people released a statement:

"This is nothing but a political stunt designed to distract attention away from the message that we must change the direction of the war in Iraq. I'm the guy that didn't take the money. I have been re-elected to Congress 13 times since this tape was made 26 years ago. I will not be distracted."

Well let's analyze that for a moment shall we? He's not denying anything that was said on the tape. He's not denying that he said that he would be interested in a bribe at a later day. What he does do though is claim that this is just a "distraction" and he's the "guy who didn't take the money". Well that may be, but the fact that he agreed to testify against his colleagues says something.

We don't have all the facts of this case. For example: Did the investigators decide to stop the investigation before Murtha had a chance to take a bribe? Did they feel they had a solid enough case against all 3 people involved, including Murtha, but then the case fell apart once they got closer to trial?

He also mentions that he's been re-elected to Congress 13 times since the tape was made. What he DOESN'T say is even more striking. Would voters have voted him into office had they seen this tape after it was made? Doubtful, because no one likes a potential corrupt politician.

What I find most striking of all is on the video, you see a man defending Murtha as being "swift boated", but he doesn't mention anything about the truth of the tape. Voters need to know everything about a person's ability to do their job if they are running for office, that includes the ability to remain honest and corrupt-free.

If someone is corrupt, they need to be removed from office and punished accordingly, regardless of political party. As soon as we're tougher on this issue, you'll start to see the change in Congress that everyone wants to see.

Yet Another Campaign Promise Broken

Am I the asshole for wanting politicians to actually make an attempt at keeping their campaign promises? I mean, if your campaign promise is that you're going to eliminate the "culture of corruption" and you make it a central part of your campaign, I actually expect you to keep that promise.

But alas, Democrats have lost their backbone (surprise, surprise) for lobbying reform. Here's some of the things that were proposed but are now looking like they won't pass:

Require lobbyists to disclose details about large donations they arrange for politicians.

Make former lawmakers wait two years, instead of one, before lobbying Congress.

Bar lobbyists from throwing large parties for lawmakers at national political conventions.

So what does that mean? It means that Democrats lied to the American public. It means that they are open to the idea of bribery and perks that they railed against Republicans for. It means that their hypocracy has really no limits.

Example:

Within hours of taking control of the House and Senate, Democrats engineered rule changes to bar lawmakers and their aides from accepting meals, gifts or trips from lobbyists or groups that employ lobbyists.

They also made it far more difficult for lawmakers to slip targeted items, known as earmarks, into spending bills without divulging the source. Such "pork projects" have greatly benefited some companies with well-connected lobbyists.

But that didn't prevent Democrats from trying to throw pork spending into a recent military budget that was totaling BILLIONS of your dollars being wasted. I think we all remember the spinach farmers and peanut farmer subsidies that they tried to sneak in through the back door. That's an ADDITIONAL campaign promise they broke.

The chief stumbling block in the House centers on whether to require disclosures of a fundraising practice called bundling. It involves lobbyists soliciting and collecting campaign donations from other people and then presenting them in one package to the targeted candidate.

Under current law, each individual check-writer must report his or her donation. But the lobbyist-bundlers, who use the practice to ingratiate themselves to politicians, often go undetected.

Meaningful disclosure of bundling "is the defining issue of this bill" and must remain in the House version, said Fred Wertheimer, president of Democracy 21, a private group that supports greater transparency in government.

However, resistance from some House members is so strong that Democratic leaders are thinking of dropping the bundling language from the bill, and perhaps allowing proponents to offer it later as an amendment or separate legislation.

Why is it that Democrats are resisting the "bundling" laws? They are worried about who might be coming out as their contributers. Isn't this the exact opposite of what they originally promised to voters in 2006? An open, accountable Congress that was going to do right by the American people? If Democrats can't be trusted to keep their campaign promises, how do they propose that they remain in power?

Al-Qaeda Job Application?

You've got to be shitting me. There's actually a JOB APPLICATION form for Al-Qaeda? That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard! You never hear of job applications for other criminal organizations. When was the last time you heard the Mafia turned someone down because their references didn't check out?

Well Jose Padilla actually filled one of these things out and if you ask me, that's a very damning piece of evidence. Put that together with other bits of evidence and you've got a solid case for supporting terrorism. However, I'd personally like to see people being executed for supporting terrorism if the terrorist act was severe enough. For example, if a guy sends money to his relatives overseas, and that relative uses that money to fund a terrorist operation without the first guy's knowledge, that's very iffy. However, if he knew and he knew that people might be killed or were killed, hang em high.

Just because someone didn't die just means you failed in your plan. There's really no difference between murder and attempted murder other than something stopped you, usually because the person lived or the police caught you in time.

What's going to be key in this trial is the evidence that CAN'T be used against Padilla. Issues of torture have come up, and if true, cannot be used against him in court. Plus, with key Al-Qaeda guys providing some evidence, the government doesn't want them to be cross examined in court. Rightfully so though, as they could reveal interrogation techniques, key evidence against other terrorism suspects, or even try to communicate with the outside world. It only gets hairier from here.

The Tighter You Grip

The more slips through your fingers. It seems that our operations against Iran are working wonderfully. Iranian hard liners are cracking down on just about every group of people in their country and when you do that, you just piss people off and make them want to get rid of you that much more.

Women, youth, labor and industry people are all being targeted for the crackdown by Iranian hard liners and it appears that those who are in those groups are more and more fighting back. Encouraging this can only help the US and it's allies in it's quest to make Iran a much more pro-US country. Their economy is weak, they have significant population that's under 30, much of whom are very pro America because of our culture, and worse off, they are being increasingly isolated on the international stage because of their nuclear program.

In the coming years, you'll start to see Iran becoming more and more friendly to the US as Iranian kids grow up and remember what it was like under the hard liner regime and what the US has to offer.

Hamas-Fatah At It Again

So the Palestinians think that they can run a government but they can't even handle their own infighting. And these are the people that Israel is supposed to hand over land to? News flash kids, until they get their shit together and stop attacking Israel, it's never going to happen.

How about this: How about Palestinians actually stop blaming Israel for their problems? How about they get a little dose of personal responsibility? Stop indoctrinating children at an early age how everything is everyone else's fault but their own? Otherwise, children today will be old men in the future and no progress would have been made at all.

Canadian Shows Country's Hypocracy

I don't particularly care if someone doesn't like me or my country. However, I DO take notice when they don't like me and my country for false reasons. For example, this guy points out that Canadian citizens love to spew bullshit about America, but then turns around and uses and enjoys everything about American culture.

You don't have to like us, but if you want us to go away, everything about us comes with us. Food, movies, healthcare, everything. So make your choice, do you want your morning Starbuck's coffee, your Spiderman movies and your muscle cars? Or do you want your local items and entertainment? Chances are, you'll go American every time.

Whaahh! They Called Me Names!

Good God Barak Obama is a whiner. First he comes out with his "roots" story:

He warmed up the crowd playing up his roots as a Harvard grad, turned civil rights attorney, and his life long battle with name recognition.

"They'd mispronounce it, the would call me Alabama, or they'd call me yo momma," Obama quipped.

But then he turns right around and attacks the President. "The day that this president steps down, the entire world will breath a sigh of relief," said attacking President Bush.

Look, if you want to attack the President's policies, call him an idiot, and other such stuff, be my guest. That's the Freedom of Speech you so enjoy from the efforts of those who defend you and your nation. But you come across as a bit of a hypocrite if you start going on about how people teased you and lead people to believe that you were a bit of a victim, then you turn around and go and attack someone else.

Barack Obama has no chance of winning the Presidency. He speaks well, I'll give you that. But his problem is that he will raise your taxes to an unprecedented level, his "pie in the sky" ideas won't work such as universal health care.

Do us a favor Mr. Obama, If you're elected President, and that's a BIG IF, don't give handouts to people, how about working on the deficit? Your plan will put this country further and further into debt. How about you encourage your constituents to be self reliant instead of sucking on the governments proverbial tit? Handouts are part of a socialist society, we live in a Republic. So start acting like it.

More Iranian Rhetoric

I wonder who this is really for. Is it for the Iranian people or us? Do they honestly think that the situation in Iraq would be the same with them? Do they think that if we strike them that we would then send in troops to rebuild their nation? If we do strike Iran, it won't be anywhere near what we've done in Iraq. It will be worse.

Also, what makes them think that we would strike Iran during the time we're in Iraq? UN sanctions are working, although they could be better in my opinion. These sanctions take a long while to build up, and if Iran were smart, they'd extend a hand out to their allies and accept the deals that have been offered to them. Help with a non-military nuclear reactor that cannot be converted to a weapons factory, or we let the Israeli's loose and we'll see what kind of "retaliation" the Iranians can muster.

What is mind boggling though, is how is it that they ratchet up the rhetoric when we are about to meet with them for the first time in almost 30 years for talks? They can't be that dumb can they?

Insurgents Don't Get It

With the recent capture and killings of a few soliders, insurgents had the audacity to tell American troops not to search for their comrades.

"Your soldiers are in our hands. If you want your soldiers' safety, do not search for them," the Internet posting said.

I don't think they get it. Not only are they not going to call off the search, they are going to intensify it. They aren't just going to find you, they are going to find you and kill you. Your best bet right now is to free the soldiers and run like hell. Because if you don't, hell will be coming anyways. We don't leave behind our fellow soldiers and the only thing that will save you is the above mentioned advice.
